King's Mill Camping Freshwater West Pembrokeshire

People flocked from far and wide yesterday to enjoy the eclipse at Freshwater West. I have never seen it anywhere near as busy as it was yesterday evening, but despite the crowds and the traffic, there was such a calm and almost surreal atmosphere.

These events would have been celebrated and worshipped in years gone by. With the solar, lunar and planetary spectacle, topped off with a night sky full of meteors, Freshwater West and the surrounding area really showed off in all its glory.

Hopefully, while people looked to the skies, something many of us don’t do enough of in day to day life, it made them wonder, contemplate and feel humble and grateful for the incredible world we all live in.

It certainly did for me.

I watched the eclipse from Stack Rocks and then went for a surf at sunset at Fresh. Someone said to me in the water, as the sun was going down, “It truly was a magical day.”

I think that pretty much sums it up. ☀️🌓💫✨🕊️

The mighty Freshwater West.

Golden sand and rolling sand dunes. The dunes are a protected habitat, built up over centuries by wind-blown sand. Marram grass holds the dunes together, with wildflowers, insects and birds creating a rich ecosystem right behind the beach. It’s wild, open and untamed.

Controversial among local residents, the beach, and Dobby’s Grave in particular, became even more popular after the filming of Harry Potter.

If you are visiting, please don’t spoil what you came to enjoy. Leaving anything at the beach is littering and it will end up in our ocean and sand dunes long after you have left.

You are in a very beautiful part of the world. Remember: please stick to the paths, don’t trash the dunes, and please, please don’t leave socks, litter or anything else behind. ☀️

A very popular pitch for tents, vans, or caravans Hornbeam is a huge sheltered pitch and probably the most private on the site. With its own private driveway and parking right on the pitch you really feel like you are away from it all on your own piece of private Pembrokeshire.

With all the usuals. Private on-pitch shelter/kitchen, shower, toilet, picnic table, campfire, free firewood, electric and lots more what’s not to like?
