After 14 weeks the Vet has given Speedwell Barns resident pooch Dexter the all clear, he is now fully recovered from his cruciate ligament operation, great news back to long walks in and around Castleton!

We Have Some more pretty amazing news to share with you all….

Our Little Pub has been named a county finalist in the
2025 National Pub & Bar Awards one of just three pubs chosen to represent Derbyshire!

We’re proudly alongside two fantastic pubs:
The Prince of Wales in Baslow &
The Pack Horse in Hayfield,
huge congratulations to both!

We’re so proud of this moment.
It’s a real shout-out to the incredible effort our team puts in day after day, and to the amazing community that supports us through it all. Whether you pop in for a pint, a Sunday roast, a chat or when you’re on your holiday, you all help make The George what it is.

This nomination nicely follows on from our recognition in the PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards, and shows a different aspect of the pub, while also showcasing our ongoing commitment to sustainability and supporting the people and place around us. We’ll keep working hard to be a pub with purpose as well as having cracking Beer & Food!

Massive thanks to everyone who’s been part of what we’ve being doing so far.
We’re off to London in June
to celebrate everything that makes our industry, the pub and our community so special.
