St Andrews - the Home of Golf, and just up the coast from us.

There's nowhere quite like it. Golf has been played on the links here since the 15th century, and the Old Course is widely considered the oldest golf course in the world. It has hosted The Open more times than any other course, and walking the 18th over the Swilcan Bridge is on almost every golfer's list.

But St Andrews is far more than one course. St Andrews Links is the largest golf complex in Europe, with no fewer than seven courses spread along the coast - from the legendary Old Course to gentler layouts built for a relaxed round, so there's something here whatever your handicap.

And no visit is complete without a stop at the Jigger Inn: the little white pub beside the Road Hole that began life as the railway stationmaster's lodge and is now the most famous 19th hole in golf.

Best of all, it's around 20 minutes up the coast from Kilrenny Mill Coastal Escapes. Play the Home of Golf by day, then come home to the quiet of the East Neuk by evening.

"Very high quality accommodation with lots of thoughtful extras provided. The garden is large, peaceful and also overlooks the sea. The location is great for a coastal break, with lots to do within walking distance or a short drive away. The host is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended."

☀️ What a stretch of weather we've been having on the East Neuk - and by the look of the forecast, there's more sunshine on the way.

Here's something a lot of people don't realise: this little corner of Fife is one of the sunniest places in the whole of Scotland. Met Office data puts the Fife coast at around 1,500 hours of sunshine a year, and Leuchars - just up the road near St Andrews - regularly records the most sunshine of anywhere in the country. Being on the drier east coast, we sit away from the wet weather that rolls in off the Atlantic, so we catch far more clear, bright days than most.

And there's no better place to make the most of it:
- Wild swimming and paddle spots along the Fife Coastal Path
- Cliff-top walks between Crail, Anstruther and Elie
- Award-winning fish and chips down at Anstruther harbour
- A round of golf with the sun on your back
- Or simply a quiet evening in the garden, watching the light change over the Firth of Forth
