Swinfen Hall sleeps 30, which does rather remove the excuse for not inviting everyone.

Eleven bedrooms in private Staffordshire grounds, a golf simulator, arcade games, a private cinema and a stained-glass bar that feels like the right setting for at least one speech. Outside, there’s a heated pool, a hot tub and a tennis court. And yes, the dog can come.

Split 30 ways, it’s from £60 a head a night. We’ll leave that with you.

We’ve officially crossed the Solent. Meet Woodlands, our first home on the Isle of Wight 🌊

It’s in Bembridge and sleeps 8, or 12 with a bit of shuffling. There are two woodburners, a cedar hot tub and croquet on the lawn. The Old Village Inn is 0.1 miles away (handy or dangerous, depending on who you ask).

The dog’s invited too, and there’s a downstairs shower for sandy paws and sandier children.

Made for people who wait all year for autumn. 🍂

You know who you are. The big jumper’s been on standby since August, and the first night the log burner goes on is basically a bank holiday.

So welcome to hibernation mode. Book two nights at the weekend and the third is on us. Or book three midweek and we’ll add a fourth.

That extra night is the whole point. A slow morning is much easier when you’re not packing the car.

New photos of The Carriage House just landed 📸 It’s scrubbed up rather well for a 186-year-old.

On the edge of Bunbury village, it sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms. There’s a Japanese bath hot tub, a log burner, underfloor heating downstairs, and a walled garden designed by Edward Kemp in 1860. It’s fully enclosed too, so the dogs can explore without anyone doing a headcount.

Two award-winning pubs are a short walk away, and the Sandstone Trail and Beeston Castle are right on the doorstep for anyone who insists on earning their Sunday roast.

Better still, there’s plenty of availability. No refreshing the calendar and hoping for a cancellation, just pick your dates and round up the usual suspects.

Built in 1840, so it’s had plenty of practice at winter.

The Carriage House sits on the edge of Bunbury village and sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms. There’s a log burner, underfloor heating downstairs (the kitchen floor is about to become everyone’s favourite seat), and a Japanese bath hot tub in a walled garden that Edward Kemp designed back in 1860. Cold noses, warm water, and nobody in any rush to get out.

Walk the Sandstone Trail or wander up to Beeston Castle, then head to one of the two award-winning pubs a short stroll from the door. Muddy boots are expected. Dogs are very much invited, and fair warning, they’ll claim the rug by the fire before you’ve unpacked.

Twenty-four acres, a wood-fired hot tub, and nobody fighting over the table football. Meet Hen Llwyn.

Tucked into the hills near Rhiwlas, North Wales, it sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms. There’s a pool table, a log burner with underfloor heating for when the Welsh weather does its thing, and a fire pit for the bit after dinner nobody wants to end.

Dogs come too. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and a very good pub, The Hand at Llanarmon, are both just down the road.

Married on Saturday. Minimooning by Monday. Efficient, and frankly, we respect it 💍

The minimoon is the best-kept secret of wedding season: skip the long-haul flight and the 5am airport panic, go straight to a log burner, a hot tub with your name basically on it, and a duvet you may never leave again.

Breakfast in bed, someone else on washing-up duty, zero admin. Just the two of you, a very good playlist, and the kind of cold outside that makes staying in the only sensible option.

New arrivals on the farm: alpacas, sheep, and now... a shepherd's hut just for two. 🐑

Say hello to Copa at Fferm Fach, our newest hideaway on Anglesey. It's got its own separate bedroom and lounge (properly spacious for a shepherd's hut), plus a wood-fired hot tub, a cosy log burner, and a firepit for evenings under the stars. Sleeps 2, perfect for a couples' escape that's all about doing absolutely nothing.

Pop into Menai Bridge or Beaumaris for a pub lunch, or just stay put and make friends with the alpacas. Honestly, we wouldn't blame you either way.
