With less than three weeks to go, our Co-Managing Director, Jenny McLoughlin, and Account Manager, Harriet Fleming, are stepping up their preparations for the London to Paris cycle ride with Women in Property.

Setting off on 24 September, they will cycle hundreds of kilometres while raising funds for the 4ED Foundation, McLoughlin Planning's chosen charity for 2026. The charity provides vital support to families affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Both Jenny and Harriet have been training hard, and the countdown is now well and truly on.

We have secured planning permission for 𝟮𝟱 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 on a site allocated through the 𝘾𝙧𝙪𝙙𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙉𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣.

Although plan-led, careful work was still needed to address landscape, drainage, design and the site’s relationship with the village.

Through early consultation and an iterative design process, the scheme has evolved into a development that reflects local character and delivers meaningful community benefits, including:

👉 Green infrastructure

⭐️ We’re delighted to announce the promotion of Chris Buckland from Graduate Planner to Planner at McLoughlin Planning Ltd and Plainview Planning Ltd.

Chris joined us last September, 2025 and has made exceptional progress, already getting countless permissions through and receiving positive feedback from our client base. He has worked alongside our Directors, Chris Moore and Chris Fleming, on projects spanning from rural and urban, including agricultural developments, barn conversions, complex home extensions, and sensitive London developments, to name a few.

Chris has also played a key role in sharing his expertise and knowledge with work experience students, helping them to build confidence and experience in the profession, while developing his own managerial skills.

We’re delighted to announce the promotion of Joe Seymour from Associate Director to Technical Director at McLoughlin Planning Ltd and Plainview Planning Ltd .

Joe has been with us for 7 years, previously working in local authority development management, and has since become a hugely important part of the team. He has worked across a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, leisure, retail, equestrian and agricultural development.

He previously undertook work as a Planning Inspector on a contract basis, which now gives our team valuable insight into the planning appeal process.

Joe’s expertise, professionalism and willingness to support colleagues, especially our graduate team, have made a real difference over the years.

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 💸

The uplift is set by Government and linked to the Consumer Prices Index (CPI). For 2026, that means a 3.8% increase (with fees rounded to the nearest pound).

👉 1 April 2026: new planning application fees apply.

👉 31 March 2026: the Planning Portal service charge in England and Wales also increases.

‼️ If you are aiming to submit before the increase, note that the Planning Portal has advised there will be a planned outage from 17:00 on Tuesday 31 March 2026 (the last working day before the change) to apply the new fee values. Submissions after that point will need to align with the updated fees.

Planning Portal has published an updated fee schedule ahead of the change. With the new fees now taking effect, it is worth double-checking the fee for your application type before you pay and submit, particularly for larger householder schemes and full applications. If you run into queries around which fee applies or an application is held up at validation, McLoughlin Planning can advise.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗟𝗣 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿? 🚀✨

Alongside our day-to-day planning work, the team has been giving their time to projects close to our hearts.

One of our team members thoroughly enjoyed presenting and interacting with Geography students at the , as well as some of our team members recently engaging with the next generation at Careers Fair about the working world in planning and the various routes into the profession. Meanwhile, our Co-Managing Director, Jenny McLoughlin, spent a morning carrying out mock interviews with Year 11 students to help them build confidence and prepare for their futures.

Overall, the students asked thoughtful and insightful questions and were a real credit to themselves and their educational institutions. Our team members left the events feeling genuinely inspired and rewarded; it was a pleasure to be involved.
