Well this is a new one for us! There’s something special about a brand new guest book.

This year we celebrate 6 years of owning The Penthouses, and it just so happens that it coincides with completing our 6th guest book. That’s 6 precious books filled to the brim with gorgeous comments, drawings and recommendations. We’ve even had a couple of poems 🤗

What a wonderful record to keep, and for our current and future guests to look through too.

January is always a quiet month. Great for spring cleans and cracking on with bits of maintenance, but we’ve been lucky enough to have some absolutely lovely guests staying with us for cosy mini breaks.

The Penthouses have been looking stunning in the snowy moonlight these last few days.

We’re catching our breath after our busiest December yet, with both apartments full. Reading through our guest books makes all the hard work worth it, so a big thank you to all of our guests who take the time to write ❤️

FUNDING UPDATE: Our Spacehive crowd fund has now ended, and the project has been assessed by CWAC’s assessment panel, which has awarded the Drill Hall Gardens £3,000 from its Community Innovation Fund.
This gives us a total to date of over £10,000 raised by local residents, volunteers, local businesses and charitable funds. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this, both in terms of time, effort, and money.

We meet next week to begin planning how to use the funds we have to improve the space, and will report back as this process unfolds.

Drop us a line if you’d like to get involved- now the fun bit starts and we can start getting our hands dirty and seeing the community come together to create something really special 🪏🪴

Project complete! What a journey it’s been, but we are so thrilled with the beautiful building that has been brought back to life ❤️

Reflecting back on the last 8 months as we juggled a major works project while staying open and hosting guests throughout 🤯

We are so grateful to all our wonderful guests for their patience and understanding, we couldn’t have done it without you!

The only thing left is to commission and install a new sign, but that involves a whole seperate listed building consent application, so it may be a little while before it’s in situ!

For now, we will enjoy a little more headspace, a lot more peace, and a gorgeous part of Chester’s history restored
