Many CLs are run by farmers who use a parcel of land as a small (but often important) diversification income to the main agricultural business. We all know farmers are busy people- particularly at this time of year.

One CL owner who we know is extra busy this year as they are currently preparing for the BGT finals tonight along with the rest of the Hawkstone Choir group! 🎶

The choir, formed by Jeremy Clarkson for an advertising campaign, has gone on to be something much more than just an advert. It has united farmers from around the country and been used to project the very real issues of loneliness and the impacts that can happen when you are continually working alone for long hours.

This is something that will resonate with every farmer at some point during the working year. And for that reason, we will be supporting the choir and hoping they can become the first choir to win BGT! 💫

Did you know we are the nearest CL to Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire?

The hall is only a 10 minute drive from our site and we are pleased to be able to be a base for guests wishing to explore Hardwick whilst stopping with us.

Hardwick has a wide variety of activities and events taking place throughout the year. One such event is the roof top tours. We have done this ourselves and it was a really informative interesting tour - the roof top was the highlight of course! We would definitely recommend if you’re visiting!

🥵🥵🥵 well wasn’t that bank holiday a little bit warm?! It’s rare to have a sunny bank holiday weekend isn’t it?! We hope you all enjoyed the weekend wherever you were ☀️

We enjoyed some family time in the garden with the paddling pool and ice creams. The little ones also picked a jar of flowers from the garden 🥰

Did anyone see the transformer heading up the M1 on Sunday? We were able to head down and watch it from the bridge towards Hardwick. There were many others spectating too - many others stopped to ask what we were waiting for 🤣

We watched it steadily come northwards. It had only been on the M1 for (almost) one junction at this point and look at the tailbacks it was causing! It’s true what I read- to see its progress watch for the red congestion route on your phone map 🤣

After it has passed we headed to Hardwick for a quick walk around the ponds finishing with a drink and an ice cream at Hardwick Inn 🍺🍦

Well the bank holiday wasn’t quite the wet washout we thought we were in for and in honest, we appreciated the rain as it pushed our grass on to grow a bit more ready for the first cut of silage this week 🌱

Silage time is hectic but I love it (not sure Jonathan likes how extra busy it makes the week though 😂). To me, silage signals the start our summer, the start of a routine as all being well, if the weather behaves, we try to cut approximately every 6 weeks to ensure we have plenty of feed for the cows.

It’s the lush quality grass that we grow that the cows turn in to delicious milk for your morning cuppa ☕️ 🥛

It’s been a beautiful start to the weekend and the weather is set to hold all through next week (we just won’t look at Sunday or bank holiday Monday yet 🫣 - it could all change!🤞🏻)

The fields around us are looking glorious in all their shades of green and yellow - not forgetting the carpet of blue from the bluebells in Broom ridding wood.

There certainly seems to have been a switch from summer to autumn these last couple of weeks and if we’re honest, we’re ready for it!

Autumn colours, crunchy leaves on your walks, crisp mornings, cosy afternoons spent relaxing with a cup of tea, blackberry picking, the return of crumbles as a staple dessert, enjoying the bounty that has been grown in the garden over summer. These are just some of the reasons we love autumn

There’s also nothing better than being all cosy in your caravan or out exploring new scenery and all the autumn colours so don’t go in to hibernation yet as there’s still so much to see and enjoy!

Yesterday was Ashover Show day - one of our local show days. A great family day out with plenty to see and do for all the family - we highly recommend it to anyone staying here.

I finally got myself organised to enter some horticultural classes since I’ve been a long time lurker in the tent but never a competitor.

I think it was a case of beginners luck but I entered 3 classes and placed in 2 of them! Chuffed with myself but more so my little chucks who placed 1st with their eggs for a plate of 5 eggs! 🥳

A new trophy to sit on the mantelpiece for a year and the pride that my little rescue fluffs have produced eggs worthy of a win!
