We try our absolute utmost to make every guest stay as relaxing and perfect as possible.

But running 3 holiday cottages has a sense of humour and when something decides to break down, you can almost guarantee it’ll be 4:00 PM on a Sunday! 😅

That’s why having an incredible support team in our corner means everything.

Over the last few years, we’ve poured an enormous amount of work into bringing the place up to scratch. and Nick have practically rewired and replumbed the entire farm from top to bottom. From a full farmyard rewiring including outbuildings, sheds, guest farmshop and laundry to new fuse boards, RCDs, security lighting, complete heating systems, and three brand-new bathrooms (with Daisy’s Place getting its full glow-up this January! 🛁)…. We’ve done alot!

Because we know Matt and Nick so well now and they know every single pipe, wire, and quirk of this 400 year old property inside out, if the unexpected does crop up, it gets sorted fast, properly and with a smile and a lot of banter!

So to all you electricians and plumbers and any trade who go that extra mile to help stranded holiday cottage owners like us when we need it most this is a big fat thank you🥰

Middle Farm isn’t just a business to us, it’s our home and our three lovely cottages are a real labour of love.

Moving to the peaceful Shropshire countryside nearly three years ago was the best thing we’ve ever done and we just love it here!

We often see our guests arrive to the cottages feeling a bit worn out by the daily grind. But give it 24 hours, and the shoulders drop, smiles appear, and the quiet works its charm.

That’s the Middle Farm magic✨ sounds corny I know but we think it’s true!🥰 and we can’t wait to give you the relaxing, well-deserved break you’ve been looking forward to and need!

We often have guests who come and stay in one season, then return to experience another. ☀️🍁🌸❄️

And I think I know why…

The Shropshire Hills seem to reinvent themselves with every season. The colours, the light, the landscape, everything changes so much that it can almost feel like you’ve never been here before.

Spring is probably the season we get asked about most eagerly with the arrival of bluebells and the pretty country lanes enveloped with frilly cow parsley, but if I’m honest, I’m really looking forward to Autumn this year. Cooler days, crisp mornings, a bit of damp in the air and all those gorgeous golds and reds starting to appear. 🍂

There really is something special about every season here though.

Many people arrive on their holidays here having never seen a sheep up close before, let alone had one trot over to demand head scratches! 🐏💚

Our Valais Blacknose flock (Monty, Malcolm, Nelly, and Nora) constantly leave everyone in disbelief. Between the way they sprint across the field, paw at you for attention, and demand a head tickle, they genuinely act more like dogs than our own actual dogs do and our guests absolutely love them!

There is something truly special about being able to step outside your cottage, wander over to the fence or the barns and share a quiet moment connecting with animals you might usually only see from a distance.

Tag someone who needs a little countryside therapy (and some sheep cuddles).

Maybe I should write a book called ‘The Art of Waffling’😂

Joking aside, I’ve surprised myself and come to really enjoy the social media side of our business, which is something I never thought I’d say a year ago!

As a woman in my 50s it didn’t come easily.
I had never really shown any interest in social media before moving here and it’s not an easy thing to learn when you’re busy with a million and one other jobs.

Anyone running a holiday cottage business as an actual business rather than a side hustle will probably agree that it’s a really tough, competitive market out there and it can sometimes feel like everyone with a spare room is having a go!

A small business like ours doesn’t have the finance for a marketing budget so it is very much a matter of doing it yourself.

I’ve found social media to be a real lifeline for us and it genuinely can work to get you bookings.

So I’m definitely a convert now. Never underestimate what these platforms can do for a small business! ❤️

We were up on The Long Mynd enjoying a beautiful summers evening early July and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect sunset and he filmrd this group of wild ponies running from 2 territorial stallions - an incredible sight to see 🐴🐴

Sometimes it’s hard to put into words all the incredible people we meet that choose to stay here.

We hear about their lives, their trials and tribulations, their celebrations and their sorrows and when they choose to return for another peaceful getaway we feel that we are a part of their story in a tiny way.

Maybe it’s because people feel so at home staying here, maybe it’s because they get a good nights sleep, maybe it’s just the quiet stillness of Middle Farm and maybe it’s the jaw dropping beauty of The Shropshire Hills - who knows but Marcus and I will never stop appreciating the fact that you chose us out of all thousands and thousands of holiday cottages and still you return🥰

We spent the most loveliest afternoon with Marcus and Amy Middle Farm & Cottages a few days ago.
