Thursday's Corner Tudor Holiday Cottage

Thursday's Corner Tudor Holiday Cottage Welcome to Thursday's Corner, a Tudor Cottage in the heart of picturesque Church Stretton, Shropshire. [email protected] Free WIFI, is included.

Thursday’s Corner has undergone a full, historically sympathetic refurbishment completed to luxurious, premium standards throughout. Fully completed in April 2016, this beautiful holiday home combines the intimacy of the historic with the convenience of the new. The cottage is a stunning property that has been exhaustively refurbished with painstaking attention to detail, with the aim of blending

period style with contemporary practicality. A petite picket gate borders the property, welcoming the guests through a small porch way into an oak-floored, open-plan, lounge/diner boasting a wood-burning stove in a period inglenook fireplace, original Tudor beams and wattle and daub. A wall-mounted/positionable 40-inch Freeview TV (with built-in DVD) sits opposite a large, custom L-shaped settee on which you can snuggle up on in front of the fire. This easily converts into a luxurious king size sofa bed that sleeps two. From the lounge/diner you walk up a small step into the oak-floored kitchen which features quality appliances throughout to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Conveniences include (dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, Bodum kettle and toaster). Off the kitchen is a utility/downstairs toilet, including a basin with back-lit mirror and shaver point. This room also houses a washer/drier for your convenience. There is also a back door leading from the kitchen which provides access to a small outside space to store your off-road/on-road bikes (a cover and lock can be provided). Walking back from the kitchen and across the lounge/diner, climb the bespoke timber staircase up to a generous landing with a peaceful reading area and views of the beautiful Stretton hills. From the landing, an antique oak door (original Tudor oak floor boards recycled from Thursday's Corner) leads you up into the family bathroom with an over-bath shower, back-lit mirror with shaver point and WC. There is also a small skylight above the bath so you can star gaze while you bathe! Return to the landing and through another recycled Tudor oak floorboard door, enter the beautiful master bedroom. It features a super-king bed with a luxury mattress which can be converted to a twin upon request. Minimum 300-thread-count pure white bed linen will aid a relaxing, peaceful night’s sleep in this little slice of Shropshire heaven. The charm of original Tudor beams and wattle and daub surrounds you as you lie in your bed watching a wall mounted, positionable 32-inch Freeview TV (with built-in DVD). Thursday’s Corner is both an intimate retreat as well as a base for exploring the historic market town of Church Stretton, or ‘Little Switzerland’ as it is also known, because of the surrounding hills. Set in South Shropshire’s ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, Thursday’s Corner is approximately 7 minutes’ walk from the train station. If driving, once parked up outside (free parking in Cunnery Road, directly at the side of the cottage), should you wish, you need never drive again for the entirety of your stay. Thursday’s Corner is less than a 2 minute walk away from this market town’s pubs, restaurants and a wine bar. Church Stretton also has a supermarket, Post Office, two banks, a variety of boutique shops and a fabulous antique market that you can browse away for hours in, should you wish. Guests can enjoy walks straight from Thursday’s Corner up onto the Long Mynd or across the valley to Ragleth Hill, Hazler Hill and the famous Caer Caradoc. If a walk doesn’t appeal, there is a regular shuttle bus that runs up over the Long Mynd, returning to Church Stretton. This service runs through the summer months and allows you to soak up the beautiful scenery from the comfort of a seat, whilst someone else drives! The beautiful medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow are easily visited by rail, bus or car from Thursday’s Corner, both being approximately 20 minutes’ drive away. Telford’s award-winning Ironbridge and Blists Hill Museums are also approximately 25 minutes’ drive away. We do welcome one small dog (not allowed upstairs) but there would be a small charge for extra covers and laundry (£20) which can be added to any quote if specified prior to booking. Please feel free to contact us through the “contact us” option if you have any questions or queries or if you would like to make a reservation. Thursday’s Corner looks forward to welcoming you.

“Thursday's Cottage is totally gorgeous, we were given a very warm welcome by the host. Leigh and Li were brilliant,their communication before we even arrived made us feel confident we would feel looked after, and we were. We really enjoyed the local walks following the maps provided and as a vegan I was delighted to find a health food shop up the road to get some treats! church Stretton and its surrounding area is well worth a visit, it's stunning! ”

Review from last weeks guest;

Thursdays Corner Cottage is the best holiday home we have ever visited. It is newly refurbished with excellent furnishings and equipment and is warm and cosy. It is clean and easy to keep clean. The owner has provided everything one could wish for to make a great place to stay. including local maps and guides to places of interest. The cottage is within easy walking distance from the town of Church Stretton with its main street of good shops. Local buses to Ludlow and Shrewsbury stop outside the front door. I would recommend the cottage for an excellent holiday base for Shropshire and its villages and countryside

2nd guests review;
We have stayed in lots of cottages and Thursday cottage is by far the most beautiful, it has been refurbished to a VERY high standard. Church Stretton is a lovely market town with everything on the door stop, it is central for getting to Ludlow and Shrewsbury. The owners Leigh and Li are really lovely, nothing is too much trouble. They have thought of everything you need to make your stay a perfect one. We would defiantly return. "

Our first guests stayed over the bank holiday and left the following review on Airbnb;

"Thursday's corner is the most perfect place to stay.

The hosts are very welcoming and superbly organised- there was not one thing that hadn't been thought of. We were the first guests at this beautiful place, everything is new and thought through to bring a warm, cosy, relaxing feel to the cottage.

The cottage itself is exactly as the pictures are (maybe even better), and as mentioned previously it is newly refurbished so everything is brand new.

The location is ,again, perfect. There are a fantastic array of small independent shops and a co-op just a minutes walk away. We came for the lovely walks, it did not disappoint. The hosts left us some maps and suggested walks guides, which are fantastic and all you can do from the front door-no need for a car.

A faultless location, cottage and hosts- a must visit!"

Thats certainly a good start!
