The New Inn – journey back in time and imagine life in this untouched part of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Our village of Clapham-Cum-Newby is said to have originally been a Viking community led by Thorfin of Ravensworth. As a Conservation village, many features of 21st century modern communities don’t exist. There are no street lights, overhead wires or modern architecture. Simple stone buildings are at the core of this village along with stunning bridges, an ancient church and babbling brook. The New Inn began life as a Coaching Inn around the year 1745, if these walls could talk, what a story they might tell!
Hidden away in the stunning conservation village of Clapham and nestled under the magnificent Yorkshire Three peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, The New Inn is a Grade II listed 18th Century Coaching Inn located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our 48 seat award winning Bistro 1745 is the perfect place for the intimate dining experience with soft lighting, leather chairs and sumptuous food prepared with the utmost thought and care by our incredible team. Alternatively the same space becomes the perfect place to host your private event or corporate meeting.
In winter, the Inn becomes the ultimate retreat from the cold with roaring fires and hot mulled wine or cider.
In summer relax with your family or friends in our gorgeous garden or perhaps enjoy nature with seating next to the Clapham Village waterfall. The perfect place to enjoy a glass of one of our local craft beers, wines, or our wide variety of gin and tonics.
Being a “Three Peaks Village” we have direct access via the village and nature trail past Ingleborough Cave & Gaping Ghyll directly to the summit of Ingleborough. If you are attempting the Three Peaks Challenge, we are only a 20 min car ride from the starting point of Horton-In-Ribblesdale. Walk to Trow Ghyll and over to the amazing Norber Erratics or simply relax by the river and watch the world go by. For the walkers amongst you, we have everything you need including Maps, Compass’s plus Foot & Insect creams
We offer early morning breakfast (on request with notice) plus packed lunches (again with notice).
We also provide boot trays in each room plus a wet room for all your dreaded wet weather gear.
Whilst the Inn is open to non residents, we might recommend booking in advance.
