How would you like to wake up to this? Perhaps you want to try something new?

We're still looking for a residential volunteer to spend August with us here at YHA Ennerdale.

If you're willing to lend a hand with the daily running of the hostel, including housekeeping and meal service, then check out the YHA volunteering webpage (link below). There is also the chance to help out at the iconic YHA Black Sail.

We provide accommodation during your stay, plus you get to spend a whole month in the stunning Ennerdale valley! We've had a very successful season so far, thanks to the volunteers who've been here over the past few months. Now, we're excited to welcome a new face and to show them what it's like working in this amazing place!

We'd like to say a massive thank you to Sue, our June 2026 Residential Volunteer.

Sue has been a big help with the day-to-day running of the hostels (YHA Ennerdale and YHA Black Sail). Not only that, but she's been busy decorating the camping barn, hostel, and staff accommodation! She's made a huge difference to the sites, and to both customer and staff experiences.

Sue was also a part of two of our winter work parties, who did a tremendous amount of work getting the hostels ready before we opened for the season.

Whether it's rain or shine, YHA Ennerdale is here to welcome you!

The hostel is a good base for those wanting to explore the area. For passersby, we offer a good pace to rest your feet, and the honesty cafe is open throughout the day.

The hostel is 24-bed, consisting of private or dorm rooms, all with bunk beds. We also have a self-catering kitchen, drying room, plenty of outside space, and a bar/reception area.

A huge thanks to our first residential volunteer of 2026!!

Hollie has been a great help with the day-to-day running of the hostel and welcoming customers over the past month.

During her free time, Hollie has been exploring the Ennerdale valley and wider area. She's had a few adventures along the way and shared with us some photos of her time here!
