While the weather has taken a turn towards the unseasonable in Clovelly, it's the perfect time to delve back into the archives and take a glimpse at the New Inn of years gone by.

Taken circa 1870, this photo shows the pub in its original position on the other side of the street. If you zoom in, you can just see the little wooden soldier and sailor that used to sit atop the pub sign.

Although some things have changed over the years, you can still stay in the 'Boarding Rooms' advertised on the right - with a few more mod cons of course!

One of the best things about Clovelly is how the village shifts with the seasons.

When the colder weather hits, we happily curl up by the wood burners and watch the storms and sea spray roll in. But few things beat that late-spring blaze of colour as foxgloves, campions, and speedwells burst through the banks.

We're really excited for tomorrow's Seaweed Festival in Clovelly!

The village will be hosting live music, stalls from local vendors, seaweed-inspired cuisine and more. If you're planning on stopping by, pop into the New Inn on your way down (or up!) the cobbles. We'll have good pub grub on offer, as well as an excellent range of drinks and a sunny beer garden for you to relax in.

There will also be some seaweed-based treats on the menu for you to enjoy, including seaweed and cheese scones, seaweed triple choc cookies, and seaweed bar snacks.
