Another excellent Milsom Business Showcase!
Griff Rhys Jones OBE delighted the audience with his charm and positive stories about the impact of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH), leaving everyone with a real sense of how special their work is. He also shared some fun ways to support the charity, including Happy Christmas Ipswich at Ipswich Regent Theatre, before introducing the raffle with prizes from Talbooth Restaurant, Fenwick Colchester & Paddy & Scott's.
Screen Suffolk enlightened us on just some of the many shows and films we enjoy on Apple TV, Netflix and Prime that were filmed right here in Suffolk — as well as what goes into a production, the incredible impact on the local economy, and how businesses and people can get involved.
We were treated to a fantastic performance from Welsh Tenor and Britain’s Got Talent contestant John Pearce, and it was great to see Lewis Richardson, our guest speaker from last year’s Showcase, back again as a guest — and even helping to draw the EACH raffle on the night!
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Colchester Institute, we welcomed hospitality students to join our team for the day — preparing canapés in the kitchen and offering front-of-house assistance by serving guests and pouring wine (kindly sponsored by Mr.Wheeler Wine & Bottleproof Cocktails Ltd). Regular attendees may have noticed some new faces among the team, and we’re incredibly proud of how well the students rose to the occasion and embraced the experience.
A huge thank you to Sue Tasker, whose hard work, organisation and invaluable connections with the local business community once again helped deliver a wonderful event. We’re already looking forward to next year!
