🍦 A little day out involving ice cream, cows, woodland, an abbey… and a pub. What’s not to like?
Just a 20-minute drive from Wye Dean Cottage is Chase Farm, where they make the most delicious ice cream and wonderfully creamy milk- all produced right there on the farm from their very own cows. 🐄❤️
And I’m just going to put it out there… the White Chocolate & Cherry ice cream is TO DIE FOR. 🍒🍦
The little farm shop is open all the time and is self-serve with an honesty box, where you can pick up tubs of ice cream, milk, raw milk and yoghurt.
At weekends during the summer, the serving hatch opens too, serving up:
🍦 Ice cream cones
🧇 Warm waffles
🥤 Milkshakes
Basically, leave your diet at home. 😂
From Chase Farm, it’s only a short drive down the road to Tidenham Chase Car Park (you can actually walk to the farm from here), where you can walk through a nature reserve (this is where you might spot the highland cows) across farmland and into the woods to see the magnificent view from Devil’s Pulpit. 🌳 🥾
And if you really want to make a day of it and you’re feeling particularly energetic or have eaten enough ice cream to convince yourself that you need to walk it off- you can walk on down to the riverside village of Tintern.
There you can have a nose around the magnificent ruins of Tintern Abbey, wander along the river and, naturally, reward all that walking with a visit to one of the village pubs. 🍻😂
