🥾 Local Walks Series | 3 of 17
Shaky Bridge – Funtullich Circular

The Shaky Bridge… not quite so shaky anymore! 👀

This lovely circular route takes you through the Carroglen Valley, with beautiful views and plenty of opportunities for little legs to walk along the outward section.

A few things to know if you’re heading out with toddlers:

🌿 At this time of year, parts of the trail can be very overgrown with bracken, some of it over 5ft tall!
💧 There’s also a burn to cross along the way.
🚗 The return route follows the Glen Lednock Road, so we’d recommend a carrier for toddlers and keeping dogs on leads.

We took a leisurely 2 hours 45 minutes, including plenty of toddler walking and a lunch stop beside a lot of ducks. 🦆

And the Poco? Apparently the perfect place for an afternoon nap. 😴

This is the third walk in our series of local routes, all within easy reach of Loch View Farm, from family-friendly strolls to longer days out in the hills.

Our local followers might already know that the Bogton Braes walk passes right through the farm. 🥾

This lovely circular walk is around 6 miles and is usually started from the village. While it’s a fantastic route, some sections can be quite overgrown and aren’t always easy to follow.

We’ve been spending some time looking after our stretch of the path by installing extra waymarkers and posts to make the route easier to navigate. We’ll also be mowing this section differently from the rest of the field, so over the coming months the path should become much more clearly defined.

We’re hoping to add some new signs along the route in the near future too.

We’ve been a bit quiet on here lately. Since our wee break away, it’s been straight back to farm life, catching up on jobs, making the most of family time, and enjoying all those little toddler moments that seem to disappear far too quickly.

The camera doesn’t always come out when life gets busy, but we’re looking forward to sharing more from the farm with you soon. 🌿

We swapped sunshine at the farm for the mist, drizzle and dramatic landscapes of Assynt.

We spent a few days testing out our new family tent, conquering Stac Pollaidh, exploring The Bone Caves, building sandcastles on Achmelvich Beach, wandering along Clachtoll Beach and finishing with a visit to Stoer Lighthouse.

Now it’s back to grass cutting and farm life.

The farm simply wouldn’t run without this man.

A true jack of all trades, Wallace turns his hand to just about everything. From farming to cleaning, to renovating the holiday lets, he works endless hours to keep Loch View Farm running.

We’re incredibly lucky to have him looking after our family, and none of this would be possible without everything he does.

It’s time to top the fields, an essential summer job to keep them in shape, cutting back the rough grass so the pasture is healthy for the sheep. Just another 40-50 hours to go! 🚜⏱️

120 sheep in under 2 hours! It was so satisfying watching the guys at work, they’re incredibly skilled at what they do and I bet the sheep are feeling great with their new haircuts!
