A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow United Utilities Water to carry out utility works which are expected to commence 11th October 2026 and anticipated to take 1 day to complete.

Location: A593, Coniston, from its junction with the U5005, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 25 metres. In other words from the top end of Shepherd's Bridge Lane at Far End and along Yewdale Road just long enough to close the road completely.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Passage for Emergency Vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of this restriction.

In the 152-year history of Ambleside Centurions, only twice before have we had to call upon his services to lure front row forwards out of the pub, the closet, or retirement!

But when the going gets tough, The Pie Man gets baking. 🥧

VERY tasty local pies from Clayton's the Butcher.

And these aren't just for local lads. They're for ANY front row forward who enjoys getting their face in the trough before and after a game!

Jump on the minibus, find your seat, and you'll find a pie or two waiting for you on the back seat.

Booking is recommended as the l kitchen will close occasionally at exceptionally quiet times now we’re heading into the colder months but bookings of course are guaranteed 😄
