A little Sunday evening reflection…
What a week it’s been at the Crown. ❤️
We’ve had one of those weeks that reminds you just how lucky we are to be part of this little village and to welcome so many people through our doors.
🌒The solar eclipse was pretty special. Seeing so many of you gathered outside, pint in hand, looking up at the sky and sharing the moment together was something we won’t forget. A special thank you to the lovely gentleman who was so generously letting everyone look through his solar eclipse glasses. It was lovely to see strangers chatting, sharing the experience and making sure everyone got to see it.
Then came the hottest day of the year, with Shotley Bridge reaching 35°C. The beer garden certainly earned its keep! ☀️
It’s been a really busy week, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team. They’ve worked incredibly hard, especially in the heat, through long shifts, busy kitchens and full bars — and still managed to do it with a smile. They’ve looked after our customers, looked after each other and just got on with it. We know how much they’ve put in this week, and we’re so grateful to have them. ❤️
We’ve also welcomed guests staying with us from the Netherlands, Germany, America and all corners of the UK. It’s one of the lovely things about having rooms here — meeting people from all over and giving them a little home from home. Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
Our August Specials have been getting some lovely feedback too. It’s been really nice hearing what you’ve enjoyed and seeing a few favourites emerge. The kitchen have put a lot of thought into them, so it means a lot to see them being enjoyed.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day running of the pub, but weeks like this make us stop and appreciate what it’s really all about — good food, good people, shared moments and a place where everyone can feel welcome.
So, before we head into another week, just a genuine thank you to everyone who has been through our doors this week.
We count our lucky stars to have you ⭐️
