Dear Guest
Afon Gwyn Country House is now closed for the winter and we open again on the 12 March 2026
We would like to thank all our guests for supporting us, all regular guests and all new guests that have been recommended by friends and family to stay with us at Afon Gwyn Country House. We very much appreciate it. A special thank you to some of our previous guests for the Thank you cards that you have taken the time to write and send to us, plus all the online reviews are much appreciated .
Thank you for being so kind to us, it does make our job really enjoyable and makes it worthwhile.
A big thank you also to the tour agents from Scotland and Germany who have chosen to work with us over recent years.
Hope you all have a great winter to come 😃 and we hope to
welcome you back to Afon Gwyn again in the future.
PS. Bookings are already starting to come in for 2026. If you wish to come and stay and have a date in mind please do not leave until the last minute.
Now for the bad news, I am afraid that due to increased costs, prices will rise slightly for 2026 in most cases by £5.00 per night per room.

UPDATE - Telephone line all back to normal - problem with digital line in the area apparently.

You may find problems in contacting us by means of landline as we are having issues. Matter has been reported to BT
and am currently jumping through hoops to try and resolve. Only recently been converted to digital by BT and it doesn’t seem as reliable as the old system already😩. Internet seems ok but you can also contact Gareth on 07830339367 if needed.

After finishing our work we went for a little exercise walking to Cwm Idwal, only 9 miles from Afon Gwyn. It was a lovely day
and a magical walk around the lake. Gives the feeling of being in the mountains without too much hard work!😊😊

Hello everyone we’re re-opening today (after a long winter rest and DIY etc)
Weather this year looks more promising compared to last year and the year before (at least it is dry at moment). Advanced bookings are coming in as we were hoping they would. We really appreciate that a number of our regular repeat guests have already booked again for this year. A big thank you also to our tourist agents from Scotland and Germany who decided that we met their requirements and wanted to work with us, sending a number of guests to us every year.
We are so looking forward to meeting our first guests of this year who will be arriving later this afternoon .
We are looking forward to welcoming you all to Betws-y-Coed, Snowdonia in North Wales 💕

Stay at Afon Gwyn Country House and explored the Castles around North Wales 😀

Only 45 minutes drive from ours beautiful scenic drive and one route takes you past Snowdon itself

Caernarfon Castle is a medieval fortress in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. The first fortification on the site was a motte-and-bailey castle built in the late 11th century, which King Edward I of England began to replace with the current stone structure in 1283.
The castle and town established by Edward acted as the administrative centre of north Wales, and as a result the defences were built on a grand scale.
