Looking for weekend and holiday work?
We need one new member of staff to join our small friendly team, working one day at the weekends and during the school holidays.
We are looking for an all-rounder with flair, personality, common-sense and a ‘customer is always right’ attitude. The role will involve waiting on tables during breakfast service for up to 14 guests and changing rooms in preparation for new arrivals. You’ll need to demonstrate that you can do the job you’re applying for, but attitude is more important than experience.
You will need to be flexible and prepared to work hard when needed to ensure the comfort and well-being of our customers. Breakfast starts at 7.45am and your shift would normally finish around 1.30 or when all rooms are ready for Check-in. Rates of pay will depend on experience but we ensure that our people are properly rewarded and treated with respect.

We held our second Apple Day on Sunday 15 October, to raise funds for Ty Gobaith, our local children’s hospice, and we’re pleased to report it was again a success.

We would like to pass on our thanks to everyone who came along to support the event, as well as those who were kind enough to bake cakes.

We saw numerous new faces from the valley and coast, and the weather was kinder than last year, which encouraged the children to get involved in the outdoor activities.

It seems lots of people had bumper crops (not us, sadly) so Judith was kept busy for 4 hours turning windfalls into pure apple nectar. Not only were many apples pressed, but plenty of cakes were consumed, and the event raised £400 for Ty Gobaith.

Once again, we would like to thank Judith Kaufmann from Afallon in Bethesda for her hard work and the apple press, and to everyone who contributed to publicising the event with posters and social media.

Chris and I would like to thank everyone who came and supported Tir y Coed’s first Rowen Apple Day on Saturday, bringing themselves, cakes to be sold and apples to be turned into the most amazing fresh juice and for the generous donations made from a few people who couldn’t make it.
Despite the weather, which I think put a few families off bringing their children to take part in the outdoor games, there was a good turnout. We have had some good feedback and really enjoyed it ourselves, so look forward to a repeat next year hopefully with more sun and less rain.

After expenses we made a profit of £210, which was not too bad for our first year, so we hope that proves a good foundation for future years!
We would like to thank Judith Kaufmann and her husband from Afallon in Bethesda for bringing a wealth of knowledge and pressing local apples into what can only be described as Apple Nectar.
We are grateful to Peter Mcfadden, U3A and the team at Ty Gobaith for their help publicising the event with posters and social media.

We are holding an Apple Day on Saturday 29th October (12am – 4pm) at Tir y Coed Country House in Rowen. If all goes well we hope to make it an annual social / community event making good use of all the wonderful apples decorating our trees.

Judith Kaufmann from Afallon in Bethesda will spend the afternoon pressing and bottling your apples and brings with her a wealth of knowledge of Orchard Management and rewilding.

It would be great if you can bring …

- an apple cake or apple dish that we can portion up and sell for charity.

- 2 or 3 bags of apples and some bottles with screw lids so that you can buy back some of your own apple pressed at 50p a bottle.

- a hand towel, as there will be games for the kids but they may get a bit wet bobbing apples!

Refreshments will include all things appley!

There are no entry fees and all profits will go to Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice, Conwy

Hope to see you here,

Chris, Sandra and Judith
