Spring has arrived in Cornwall. 🌸

On 27 February 2026, magnolias came into bloom across six of The Great Gardens of Cornwall, their petals unfolding beneath wide Cornish skies.

Each year, the Spring Story Bloomometer follows six champion Magnolia campbellii. When each tree reaches 50 blooms, spring is here.

After months of Atlantic storms, the magnolias stand in full bloom once more.

The Spring Story 🌺

After a rather dreary start to 2026, our annual count of the champion magnolia trees at six of The Great Gardens of Cornwall is bringing some much-needed hope for spring.

Each year, the head gardener at each of the six Great Gardens of Cornwall sends in a daily report on their champion Magnolia campbellii tree and the all-important bloom count, so that progress across all six gardens can be monitored. Spring is declared when the six nominated Magnolia campbellii trees have 50 blooms apiece.

Roast season is officially here… 🍷✨

But this isn’t just any Sunday lunch - this is a Nare Sunday Lunch.

Start with locally smoked salmon, the soup of the day, or hors d’oeuvres served from the trolley. Then enjoy a full roast with all the trimmings, including roasted and buttered new potatoes, with the star of the show, local beef or lamb carved table‑side by the chef (fish and vegetarian mains are available too).

Finish with a selection of homemade desserts, ice creams, sorbets, and the flambé of the day, plus West Country cheeses, vintage ports, coffee, and petit fours.

Blustery beach walks, a drink by the log burner, and a roast dinner like no other.
