About us: Plas Derwen Country House is a Grade II listed building located 9 miles to the west of Llangollen & 1 mile from the rural village of Corwen.
Built in the 18th century as a Georgian farmhouse it later became rectory to the Church in Corwen. It is now owned by Christine & Alan Swallow who have lovingly restored it, making changes along the way keeping it up to date, having made Plas Derwen Country House their family home for the last 30 years.
All the grounds are organic and pesticide free, visitors are welcome to explore the lovely wild natural gardens, and watch the horses grazing in the paddocks, and to enjoy all the wonderful wildlife.
Plas Derwen country house is an oasis of tranquility set within mature gardens and fields.
Ponies waffle and wombat, grazing the fields, the garden consists of ancient oaks and a wild flower meadow in the old orchard. The grounds are maintained organically sustaining a varied range of wildlife.
The setting is perfect to an escape to a slower lifestyle, enjoying the gardens or exploring the stunning local area of the Dee Valley and Berwyn mountains.
Plas derwen is also an ideal location to tour further afield into Snowdonia, onto Anglesey and Machynlleth and Lake Vyrnwy, castles and historic houses.
Add a city trip to Liverpool or Chester both from a local train station 30 minutes drive away, this way you avoid finding city parking and the train journey will take you to the middle of the city within 75 minutes.
