1st March and so onto our March challenge which is this month go to camp of at least one night. This could be as simple as arriving on a Friday night putting up your tents, having supper and sleeping the night in a tent then getting up the next morning having breakfast and then going home. These micro adventures are amazing. It could also be a whole weekend camp with two nights camping and a number of activities to take part in. Whatever sort of camp you choose work with your young people to make this happen so they are a true part of the team. For this activity ensure the young people learn what to take with them and pack their own kit. Camp showing that everyone can look after themselves and the equipment. When you return tell other young people who have not been to the camp to encourage them to take part next time

February already so today we launch our second challenge which is to climb. Well I hear you cry we don’t have an adult with a climbing permit in our group. Do not despair if you want to take your young people climbing you have lots of alternatives. The best option in Northamptonshire is to book a two hour instructed climbing session at Pinnacle Climbing. This is very reasonable and will give you a great two hour activity. You might even get some of your young people enthused to join their Rockies young people’s climbing club and work for their NICASS awards. There is also climbing available at the Big Rock in Milton Keynes. As well as the traditional climbing centres we have other alternatives at Wickstead Park’s Click and Climb and Rushden Lakes Rock Up. We will be sharing some other climbing activities throughout the month
