Wrens Nest Holiday Cottage, Clun

Wrens Nest Holiday Cottage, Clun A cosy couples cottage with onsite parking nestled in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Come and relish the peace and tranquility of the Clun Valley. According to A E Housman
"Clunton and Clunbury,
Clungunford and Clun,
Are the quietest places
Under the sun." Walk hills and river valleys, meadows and ancient forests, see hillforts, nature reserves and visit quintessential villages. And when you're done exploring, retreat to your cosy cottage with wood burning stove or one of the

local pubs and cafes. Clun is a pretty, historic farming town, that more resembles a village in stature and personality. A haven for those wishing to retreat to the peace and tranquility of the hills, walkers have direct access to The Shropshire Way and Jack Mytton Way long distance footpaths, and easy access to the Offa's D**e Path. Cyclist have the choice of road riding up and down the hills exploring nearby villages and towns, or hitting the local forest tracks. A visit to Clun's Norman castle just a 10 minute walk from Wrens Nest is a must— looking beautiful under a day or night sky. The hill fort at Bury Ditches, one of the best preserved in the country, boasts panoramic views of the valley, as do Radnor wood, Sowdley wood and Black Hill. Beyond that, the options for exploring the local area are endless. The small town offers all you need with a local shop (Spar), grocers, deli, two pubs that also serve food and takeaway, two cafes, a hairdressers and a beauticians. We have a monthly produce market in the town, or just up the road Lydham has a farmers market every Friday. Unfortunately we're unable to accept young children or dogs at Wrens Nest.

It’s been a while since I shared some of the lovely reviews we’ve had at Wrens Nest. We’ve been so busy since we opened our doors in April that we’ve not had the chance. But we’ve had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people that have fallen for the cottage’s and town’s charms just as we did two years ago when we first laid eyes on our home.

Shrewsbury is about 45 mins from Wrens Nest and well worth a visit. Take a drive up through the hills on the A49 maybe stopping for a walk along the Lawley. Once in town, take a stroll visiting the castle, quarry and famous market hall, perhaps a cruise on the river, and pop into one of the many cafes, restaurants and independent shops and then return to base on the A488 Bishops Castle road for an enjoyable and scenic day out.

For the walkers out there - Autumn really is a lovely time to explore the hills on foot. Clear sunny days after chilly nights warmed by a cosy log burner. Perfect.

We’re fully booked for October but have some short stays available in November. And then we need to decide whether to shut down for the winter or not….
