What a great day when we hosted 110+ Squirrel Scouts and Beaver Scouts form Crawley District Scouts for their Easter Fun day, a day of adventure and creativity. Whether they were scaling new heights or getting stuck into our craft workshops, they made the atmosphere truly special.
There’s nothing better than seeing our beautiful campsite filled with such energy.

Stanford, Crawley District Campsite 14th March 2026

An incredible amount was achieved last weekend to prepare our campsite for the season ahead. Many thanks to Kevin & Helen I, Graham M, Allen H, Mike G, Stefan B, Dave G, Carol S & Pauline M. Jeremy, whose church group use the site most years, joined the team and was very welcome.
Health and safety checks were carried out and much cleaning, battery changing and restocking took place.
Trees that were ‘dead, damaged or diseased’ were felled by Kevin and his team. The campfire circle was cleared.
Graham and the rest of us repaired the Don Clement’s Gate (after a tree fell on it), cleared the dam that had stopped the stream causing flooding, made the toilet block vents rodent proof hopefully, cleared access to the cess pit and cleared thresholds so that doors close properly.
Allen & Stefan successfully put in place the new signage at the main entrance which is on brand and very smart.
9th & 10th May there are a few jobs to tackle; the archery boundary to be reviewed, replace the toilet block door for the boys, clearing the stream culvert when it has dried out a little and replace the grill, re-felt the workshop roof and various other jobs. Enough to keep many happily busy for two days 😊
In the meanwhile, it will soon be grass cutting time. If you fancy sitting on a mower (full training given), please contact this team or Craig E. Full training will be given.
We have a tremendous asset in Stanford. If you can help keep the site as fantastic as it is, please join us. Contact Mick H or [email protected]
Thank you for reading, please consider supporting Stanford Scout Camp Site or joining the support WhatsApp chat to know what is going on and when. See you on the 9th May? Chris H

1st Langley Green cubs invited dad's, uncles and grandads to their meeting to help build dens. The cubs split into 4 groups with the adults and built dens in the woods behind HQ using sticks, branches and tarpaulin. Everyone had lots of fun and all the dens were very different. Thank you to all the adults who helped.

On Wednesday 2nd Ifield Lion Cubs were hosted by Crawley Table Tennis Club. The cubs learnt great hand eye co-ordination, concentration and a new skill. All of the cubs really loved learning a new story and had a great time. Lion Cubs love to use the summer term to show members new sports or pastimes they might not have tried before and will keep them active and fit - plus discover something new they didn't know about.

21st of May saw 6th Crawley do its first off site trip. We were kindly hosted by GTR's Go-Learn Program on Rail safety to visit Crawley Train Station and ride the train to Horsham to visit there. On the Journey we got to see a special message on the announcement screen. At Horsham station we saw a train decouple and the staff let a cub make a platform announcement all while we were learning what to look out for to remain safe on the railway…...
