Losing a child is every family's s worst nightmare, but our reality.
October is baby loss awareness month. Claire and George felt it right to now share their story.
Many of you may know that my daughter Claire and son-in-law were welcoming their son, our first grandson into the world this July. What some may not know, is what was supposed to be the happiest of times very quickly and unexpectedly became the worst. Their beautiful little boy, Frankie, was born sleeping.
They have created this ongoing campaign in his memory to bring awareness to something which happens all too quietly. From no discussion of the possibility of loss during midwife and antenatal appointments being labelled as ‘low risk’, to them not personally knowing people who had experienced a stillbirth themselves, they felt very alienated in such a complicated time, but through their loss people came forward and shared their own experiences with them - on occasions experiences they’d never shared or worked through.
The hope is very much that one day baby loss will be more openly discussed, in the meantime we hope to be able to raise awareness for the amazing charities who supported, and continue to support Claire and George through this horrendous experience and hopefully raise some money in return. We have a small group of family planning to do the Exeter half Marathon next year (you will see Iain Tapp's page soon with details of this) but if you would like to challenge yourself in something in Frankie's memory please let us know.
Have a look at our pages and help to keep Frankie's name alive. 💖 Please feel free to share. Always our first grandson. https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/22039/nanas-legacy-of-love-for-frankie/
