The mirror man, loch Earn π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
The sculpture is officially called Still, although it is much better known locally as the Mirror Man. Created by Scottish sculptor and environmental artist Rob Mulholland, it was first installed in Loch Earn at St Fillans in 2014. Standing around 2.7β3 metres tall, the figure is made from mirrored stainless-steel sections, allowing it to reflect the water, sky and surrounding mountains so that it can almost disappear into the landscape. The sculpture represents the physical and spiritual relationship between people and the natural world, while its deliberately changing, weathered surface reflects the constant forces of nature.
Its history is almost as interesting as its appearance: Still was removed in 2017 after the surrounding property changed ownership, much to the disappointment of locals and visitors. A community campaign eventually helped bring the sculpture back to Loch Earn, where it has once again become a distinctive landmark at St Fillans.
