- Sleeps up to 4 people (1 double bed, 2 x single beds). The perfect mix of being immersed in nature, whilst enjoying many creature comforts. Set next to a stream, surrounded by trees, the sound of birds & magical evenings under the moon & stars.
** Children are very welcome & love it here. There is a rustic wildness to the setting so please see the bottom of this description for the 'children's policy' which will give you an idea of whether it's the right setting for your children :)
Family run, we lovingly built this Hideaway Yurt Holiday & Retreat based on our love of creating beautiful and relaxing experiences that give you a feel of escaping your everyday life and entering a magical, nature filled setting where you can unwind... whilst still enjoying many creature comforts ;)
THE SPACE
Our yurt and all its facilities are set in a spacious tree-lined clearing that will be completely private to you during your stay, and has everything you'll need to relax and unwind, whoever you're with and whatever the weather! :)
Set next to the River Weaver (more like a brook in summer, stream in winter).

Set on the edge of a small hamlet in beautiful East Devon countryside. Walks on your doorstep & forests 5min drive, whilst Beach trips are 30mins away. There are loads of activities for adults and children, days out & places to eat within 10-30mins drive. THE YURT…
The yurt itself is a large 6.4m2, meaning it's wonderfully spacious for a couple, but can also comfortably sleep families or small groups of friends. The bedroom area has a double bed with bedside tables and lamps, and a hanging rail. There is a log-burning stove that keeps the whole yurt amazingly warm and cosy, and a living area with two ridiculously comfy armchairs, a coffee table, additional floor seating in keeping with the style of the yurt, and a number of other bits and pieces you can make use of during your stay, such as board games, books, etc. We provide duvets, pillows, linens and towels, and even have electric blankets for the colder nights. This space is amazing, and allows you to enjoy outdoor living no matter the weather (rain!!). Comfy chairs and hammocks to sit in and sit back with a book, or eat outdoors. THE HUT...
- Kitchen / Diner
Directly in front of the yurt is a 'cabin' that's home to your kitchen, dining area, and shower room. The fully equipped kitchen includes an electric hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge with small freezer compartment, and all the basic kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. And if there's anything else you need, we can most likely lend it to you. :)
There is a table with four chairs, all of which can be fully folded away, and an honesty bar stocked with various snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine.
- Shower Room
At the back of the cabin – through a stunning Balinese door – is the shower room with a hot water shower and separate sink. TOILET HUT
Finally, there is a compost toilet and sink in a separate hut tucked behind the yurt, easily accessed by the decking that leads from yurt to toilet. OUTSIDE & SAUNA…
The whole yurt area is surrounded by trees, and sits directly alongside the River Weaver – which is more like a stream in the summer, and a small river in the winter. The views through the trees and across the horizon look onto the Blackdown Hills. There's a decking area leading down from the yurt into the main outdoor space, which has comfortable lounger chairs and a hammock for you to relax in. There's a fire pit (which can also be adapted into a bbq) – which we highly recommend using. Spending the evening by the fire, enjoying the peace and quiet of nature, is truly one of our favourite things about living where we do! Mid-way down the path that leads from the back of our property to the yurt, is where you'll find the sauna with a separate outdoors seating area, tucked in amongst the trees & overlooking the stream. Another really special spot to sit and reconnect with nature. Both the yurt and the cabin's entrances face into the centre of the whole outdoor area, giving the whole space a really warm and homely feel. We may be biased, but we really do think our it's the perfect spot for a quiet, relaxing, nature-filled holiday with a difference :)
CHILDREN POLICY:
- Children are very welcome but need to be fully supervised at all times.
- As you will see from the photos, it's a rural setting with raised deck platforms, a log burner in the yurt, a fire pit and trees to climb.
- The River Weaver runs along the whole zone... it's a more like a small stream in summer, larger in winter... a lot of it is very shallow but there are deep parts too). It's great fun to explore with wellies on!
- The outdoor setting is more like a forest school or re-wilding (rather than a manicured garden).
- We have two young children aged 2-5yrs who love spending time down there. TRANSPORT:
Please note that you will need your own transport when staying with us, as there is no public transport through the village. The nearest village shop is a 5-minute drive, and the nearest large supermarket 10 minutes' drive.
