Aberdeen show you did not disappoint and the 3am rise was well worth it!

It was a trip for Davy for the farrier competition and Benji to compete in the in hand and ridden.

Well Benji what can we say!

1st place 4 years and over gelding
Best gelding
Champion male
5th place ridden

Benji then joined Bowtie and our friends from Finnont Clydesdales to compete in the pairs class. The boys bagged a second place. Benji however did have a confused look on his face as to why this wee boy was coping his moves in the class.

Today was a family affair with the full Balmalcolm squad making our way to Scone for the International horse trials. Benji and Blythe as always did us proud!

A strong ridden class of 19 seen them pulling in 6th place.

They go from strength to strength and make us proud everyday. Blythe puts in all the work herself with the watchful eye of her grandad, mum behind the camera and granny there to make sure the lorry is stocked up. It really is a family affair with all the Balmalcolm team getting involved. Blythe’s brothers and sisters are forever proud of her achievements and she better hold onto those reins because the wee ones are nipping at her heals!

This Thursday (27th of August) Benji will be heading along to Scone palace to compete in the ridden Clydesdale final at Scone Palace International Horse trials 2026! ✨

Last year Benji defined all odds and surprised us all by being placed 3rd out of 18 horses! 🤩

All fingered are crossed for this year! 🤞🏻

If you have nothing to do this Thursday, come along and watch Blythe and Benji! The class is scheduled for not before 11:30! 🕦

🐴 Zoe Urquart lost her cremello stallion, Polo, from her Morayshire farm in 2018. For eight years she had no idea where he was.

He turned up this month, in Shipley, West Yorkshire, hundreds of miles south of the Scottish farm he was taken from. Community intelligence led people to him. Police Scotland confirmed his identity by scanning his microchip, and the number matched. It was Polo.

Urquart did not wait. She had transport arranged and her horse on the road within three hours.

The reunion was not the clean picture anyone hopes for. Eight years of neglect had left their mark: a sarcoid tumour, and damage to his eye. A pale gold horse who should have been in his prime came home carrying all of it.

But he came home. That is the part that almost never happens. Most stolen horses simply vanish into the countryside, sold and resold until the trail goes cold, and their owner spends years scanning every field they drive past.

A microchip and a community that talked to each other gave one woman back the horse she had been looking for since 2018.
