Our U8 camogie players were back in GoGames action this morning. Thanks to CLG Naomh Pól who travelled to Musgrave Park and provided strong opposition. The girl’s performance was superb from start to finish - clearly all the hard work in training is paying off 👏

"Corkan Island on the River Foyle"

Between Strabane & Porthall, County Donegal, Ireland

Corkan Island is a small river island on the River Foyle. This river & the old 'Strabane Canal’ alongside were once bustling waterways. Only 70 years ago these waters would have never ceased to ripple, by the amount of merchant barges & boats sailing both ways.

Times have certainly changed & moved forward by the modern advances in freight lorries, aeroplanes & internet deliveries. Nowadays calm mirrored reflections are a common sight on these silent riverbanks….. in my book this is wonderful as it’s how this river was for thousands of years prior & how it should now remain once again, the way nature intended.

‘The Sacred Heart of Errigal’

🥂 Happy New Year 2023 Folks 🕊

The 'Church of the Sacred Heart’ is one of Donegal’s if not Ireland’s most perfectly situated buildings. It was built in 1877 on top of this small hill on the shore of Dunlewey Lough. Nestled so close to the foot of Errigal Mountain that it could almost hide in its shadow.

Because of its name The Sacred Heart & its proximity to Errigal Mountain, I often refer to this stunning church as ‘Errigal’s Heart’ 💚 In my mind this makes perfect sense.....

To my dear Family, Friends & the greatly missed, I would like to wish you all a Happy New year 2023. I would also like to thank each of you for support throughout the year. It means so much to me & I look forward to bringing you more images of Ireland throughout this brand-new year ahead. Take care my friends 🕊

‘St James Church - Parish of Donagheady’

Donemana, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland

This picturesque little church & cemetery was constructed in 1879 to house a congregation of 300 worshipers from the local parish. I love its placement as it fringes on the local Donemana village border. Idyllically seated so even today it’s not congested & surrounded by “sprung up” modern constructions around it.

Saint James Church still stands proudly on a natural open-air landscape, surrounded by lush rolling green fields & to its rear an ancient woodland likely predating the church itself. Its clean natural blend with its environment is a timeless credit to both its builders & its current custodians 🙏

🐸 ‘Leapfrogging on Mossy Humps’ 🐑

Downpatrick Head, Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland

During a recent visit to Dún Briste sea stack I was fascinated on how the grass & soil is shaped across this headland! I’ve yet seen anything quite like it elsewhere across Ireland. These lumps resemble green mossy turtle shells scattered across the ground 🐢 When walked across they are surprisingly very spongy & springy.

Whilst curiously checking out these grassy lumps, I was secretly being stalked by ‘The Guardians of Dun Briste’ 🐑 This beautiful curious sheep had snuck up on me, so I decided to capture her portrait. She then joyfully bounced off across these mossy humps, like a frog hopping across giant Lily pads in a pond 😂

Ireland can be so unusual at times but there’s always joy to be found no matter what you come across 💚
