As the Anchor Hotel remains closed places to go to have a quiet or lively d**k within walking distance of Sugar Pine Lodge has reduced but thankfully just 500m away we have The Tee Room Bar. Great small compact bar serving great refreshments, always a friendly place especially if you have a 🐕

I had the pleasure of getting a look into what you might experience if you book a tour here at Bainloch Deer Park. To see these majestic wild animals come right up close to your 4x4 tour vehicle is something else, with so many Red and Sika deer to see you're spoilt for choice to which ones to look at. As you're driven around the park your knowledgeable tour guide will give a running commentary on the habits and ecology of the Deer within the park with some insight to the history of the local countryside. Definitely a must if you're in Dumfries and Galloway.

We had a weekend away only to be contacted by our guests saying the shower had stopped working🫤 (3rd shower in 3 years)
So, cut the weekend short, stopped off to buy new shower,( better make this time) organised plumber to be on standby, drove 3 hours back and had the new shower up and running within by 2pm today Happy guests 😀

Always something to do or in this case something to lookout for.
Not that I mind wasps at this time of year but not at Sugar Pine Lodge that's just going to upset folk this one being pointed out by our current guests after me dealing with two others last night.
O well can't have beautiful countryside without having unwanted lodgers 🐝🐝

We had a great weekend off from working just past and what did we do instead? We had friends up to stay, we went to the beach and went to the pub. The Anchor Hotel was excellent, food, staff and Basil had a great time under the table being pampered by the staff and others enjoying the great weather and food. ❤️❤️🐕🐕⚓️⚓️

Back in December we ordered the last three replacement windows for Sugar Pine Lodge as the old ones had seen better days and needed upgrading.
Windows ordered and joiner booked and would you believe it they turned up just at the start of June the week before the date we had booked the joiner for who turned up on the exact day he said he would, great when a plan comes together 🙂
New windows fitted, new blinds fitted interior and exterior painting done and we're back in business just in time for our next guests arriving
We have a busy summer coming so plenty to do.
Next big project is to remove the old shed in the garden but that's a story for another day

Fairly new to the area but definitely worth a visit especially if you have a dog or you can't be bothered walking down to the village for a drink, not many places around here you can get 2 drinks for under £10 but you can here only 400m from Sugar Pine with live music, quiz nights and bingo throughout the year 🥂

When I'm not busy with keeping the Lodge tiptop I get asked to do various tasks from packing firewood to driving large machinery, today I was chauffeur for a couple on their big day not to far from home but still a nice location. Bruce's stone,
45 minutes and you can be up in the wilds of Glentrool, part of the Galloway forest park a perfect spot for a full day walking the hills including climbing Merrick the highest hill in Dumfries and Galloway if you're able.

Summer is supposed to be round the corner here at Sugar Pine Lodge however cold winds are forecast for the next few days cooling things down a bit so some pots planted up to brighten the view until summer dose arrive.

Our last guests left after having a good time and great weather so it's back to our mantainance programme before our next guests arrive in April
Fitting new blinds today sadly to block off that beautiful view however sun up at 5am tends to wake you up🙂
