We know how much you’ve been missing The Anchor, and we didn’t want you missing out on the famous New Year’s celebrations, so we’ve arranged a special pop-up to keep the tradition alive! To make sure your New Year’s plans are firmly in place, we’ve lined up a brilliant New Year’s Day Bash. The licence is secured, the bar will be fully stocked, and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Join us at KIPPFORD VILLAGE HALL on 1st January 2026.
Doors open at 1pm, with the fantastic Gemma B performing from 3pm.

This is a ticketed event with limited availability. Entry bands are £10, which includes freshly prepared hot filled rolls.

It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, Sean Wood.

Sean was a familiar and much-loved face at The Anchor — our Santa at Christmas, a talented musician who filled the place with music and laughter, a storyteller, and a friend to everyone who met him. He often mentioned The Anchor fondly in his writing for the Guardian newspaper, and we were always proud to be part of his stories.

Although The Anchor remains closed just now, we wanted to take a moment to send our heartfelt condolences to Sean’s family and friends. He’ll be deeply missed by us all. ❤️

Today we close the doors on The Anchor for the last time. What an incredible journey it’s been. 💙

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us — our amazing guests, our friends, and especially our brilliant team who gave this place its heart, we appreciate each and every one of you.

A special thank you to our head chef Eddie — for his dedication, his talent, and the countless hours (and family time) he’s given to make this place what it is. You’ve been more than a chef, Eddie — you’ve been family, and we’re so lucky you’re coming with us on the next adventure. ❤️

We’re taking a short break before the new chapter begins — and we can’t wait to share what’s next. ⚓✨

📢 Announcement📢

After just over 4 incredible years at The Anchor, it’s time for us to turn the page. We’ve shared countless memories, poured pints for new friends who became family, and been lucky enough to work alongside an amazing team.

When we took on The Anchor, it was a challenge—but together with our fantastic staff and loyal customers, we were able to turn it into a thriving, welcoming place we’re truly proud of. ❤️

We’ll be leaving The Anchor in mid-October. Hospitality has had its challenges in recent years—especially when tied to a brewery-owned venue—but we know we leave behind something stronger than when we started.

The good news? We’re not going far… and we’ve got something exciting to share with you very soon! 🍾

A huge thank you to our wonderful customers for your support, laughter, and loyalty, and to our incredible staff who’ve been the heart of The Anchor.

This isn’t goodbye—it’s just a see-you-soon. We can’t wait to welcome you to our next adventure!

The Anchor Hotel will be closing its doors from Tuesday, 14th October. 💔
All future bookings and reservations have now been contacted — thank you all for your understanding and support.

Our last day of trading will be Monday, 13th October, and we’d love for you to join us for one final weekend of celebration! 🎉
