Last weekend we had a lovely day in Dumfries. After a trip to The Pied Piper for new summer shoes (the best place to get kids shoes fitted) we explored the wonderful new Ukrainian bakery of Vika Jouja.

Trying to choose between the various homemade breads, cakes, savoury and sweet delights took some doing! Definitely worth a trip whilst you're here. (It's on English street slightly up from Boots on the other side of the road. It has a lovely Ukrainian flag painted on the windows so it stands out).

We are very excited to welcome Bossman Street Food this Saturday.

He's already building a reputation for some of the best shawarma and kebabs around. No need to pre book, just turn up and enjoy!

The courtyard and pub will be open for seating, and you can wash it down with a pint from @__onlyboozeandhorses__

With the summer season fast approaching we are looking for additional staff.
We offer good rates of pay and free access to Barend Swimming Pool.

We accept staff from 16 years old (as long as you're keen, hard working, and reliable - if it's just because your mum and dad are pushing you, we're sorry but this might not be the job for you. It can be hard work but rewarding and a great addition to your CV).

If you're interested in more permanent work we can also offer part time work year round if you're great at cleaning!

🛟Are you staying with us this August? Fancy giving your kids a quick step up in their swimming?

🏊Depending on demand Tiddlers Swim School Scotland will be hosting an intensive 5-day swimming course from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August.

👉 One 30 minute lesson daily (between 9am and 11am). All abilities welcome (from ages 3 and up).

💷 £40 for the course including 5 * 30 minute lessons.

Please contact Jo at Tiddlers Swim School Scotland directly to book. She will need enough people to go ahead with the courses. Courses are open to guests, locals and owners alike (no swim membership required)

After a stunning May Week, we are quickly approaching summer.

At Barend we have a wide range of authentic lodges and cabins to suit every budget and group size (from 1 to 100!).

Whether you want a budget trip away, or want to have a little more luxury in our premium properties, we have something for you.

All our properties include free swimming pool access and golf at Craigieknowes, plus an onsite maintenance and reception team. Check out our properties that also include free access to our new sauna, or additional free Golf at Colvend.
