๐จ A-29 Super Tucano - Paraguay's new combat aircraft ๐ต๐พ
The Paraguayan Air Force (FAP) has incorporated the Embraer A-29 Super Tucano turboprop aircraft as part of its key strategy for modernizing national defense, airspace surveillance, and combating drug trafficking.
๐ฐ Acquisition and Fleet Details.
- Total quantity: Paraguay has purchased 6 aircraft manufactured by the Brazilian company Embraer.
- Deliveries: The first four units arrived at the Silvio Pettirossi Air Base in Asunciรณn in mid-2025. The remaining two completed the fleet months later.
- More firepower: The aircraft were acquired to complement the work of the 6 T-27 Tucano aircraft.

- Airspace control: Their main task is to intercept illicit aircraft ( clandestine drug trafficking flights) that violate Paraguayan borders.
- Training and attack: They serve as the main attack platform, close air support, and advanced training school for the FAP's Aerotactical Group.
- International deployment: The Paraguayan fleet has gained notoriety on the continent, actively participating with its units in high-demand multinational exercises such as Salitre 2026 in Chile.

- Top speed: Capable of reaching 593 km/h.
- Protection: Features reinforced armor in the cockpit and in the engine section.
- Systems: Equipped cockpit with modern avionics, electronic vision sensors, and self-defense systems.
- Firepower: Incorporates internal 12.7 mm machine guns and the flexibility to carry 70 mm rockets, conventional MK80 bombs, or laser-guided munitions (GBU).
