It took longer than we hoped, but we've now been open for about 3 weeks - still ironing out a few glitches but visitors so far have enjoyed the property - especially the couple who booked a couple of years ago when it was still a bungalow! Bookings only taken through the Unique Cottages website I'm afraid, and also I think there is only one week available between now and September - and the English October half term week has already gone too. We're not currently taking bookings into 2022 as we're not sure of our plans yet.

Well, it's been some year. We had burst pipes in December and the house took literally months to dry out. But we took this as the opportunity to do the loft conversion we've talked about since we bought the house. Work was about to begin when lockdown started. However, the end is hopefully in sight now. We have stairs and windows, but the plumbing has yet to be done. We probably won't be ready for bookings before Jan 2021, but look forward to welcoming new and returning guests in 2021.

We're making great strides on demolishing the dilapidated big shed at the bottom of the garden.

I think we have a pair of Goldcrests nesting in the garden as I've had great views of them. Almost as good as the three...

I think we have a pair of Goldcrests nesting in the garden as I've had great views of them. Almost as good as the three otters I saw on the Gala water a few weeks ago - a mother and two cubs.

Melrose has just been voted the best place in Scotland to live - couldn't agree more. And also one of the best places to holiday
