You could book a flight in search of Mediterranean-blue water and beautiful beaches. Or, according to one ranking, you could just head towards Dartmouth. 😂🏖️

Blackpool Sands and Challaborough Bay have both picked up a Blue Flag and Seaside Award for 2026, helping Devon reach a total of 13 recognised beaches and putting the county fourth nationally in the analysis.

And Blackpool Sands has another accolade to boast about. A separate ranking by ferry operator DFDS, based on positive language appearing in Google reviews, placed it top among 15 UK beaches and coastal coves, highlighting its sheltered bay, blue water and surrounding pine trees.

So is Blackpool Sands really the best beach in Britain — or is there another Devon favourite you’d put above it? 🌊

This is the closest parking to the event, being on Coronation Park, adjacent to the North Embankment.

Regatta is an extremely busy event, and we urge all visitors to plan travel arrangements including car parking and public transport options - both on and off the water - in advance.
