After what has been a busy day in more than the usual The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta ways we would like to post a little update...

Early this afternoon we encountered a fire alarm evacuation, this was performed swiftly and professionally by our team, and with great credit to them considering how busy we were. The cause of the fire alarm was traced to a minor electrical fire in the motor unit of one of our food lifts that conveys food from our 1st floor kitchen down to the ground floor bar.

The fire brigade attended and dealt with the fire in good time. It must be noted that the fire was contained within a fire proofed small area which prevented any further spread. On advice from the fire brigade it was necessary to have an electrician to attend to deem the electrics safe prior to us being able to allow the public and guests back into the hotel, purely as a precaution. At 6pm we were able to reopen to guests and a short time later be in a position to reopen the kitchen once the team had worked to clean and reset the kitchen.

We understand that some of you will have been inconvenienced by the situation, had food reservations cancelled and indeed the road closures outside the pub caused a headache especially on the busiest day of the year in Dartmouth. We thank you all for your patience and understanding whilst we were dealing with this incident.

First and foremost everyone was safe and well, and the damage was limited to one food lift, so now we are back up running and will be ready to welcome you in.

We would like to convey our gratitude to firstly Dartmouth Fire Station and also to the regatta committee and volunteers and naval college stewards who helped to deal with the crowd control and cordons outside whilst this happened.
