A beautiful, sunlit Bank Holiday on the Slapton Line — calm seas, a ley humming with life, and a walk we won’t forget.
Parking at the middle car park, we made our way towards for fish & chips and a pint. But this time felt different — walking along what was once a busy road, rather than the beach, gave the whole stretch a new perspective.
It’s impossible to be here and not notice what’s been lost. Recent storms have torn through this coastline, destroying large sections of road and leaving homes, businesses and an entire community facing real uncertainty.
We were lucky to capture a quieter moment, as most of the walk was shared with cyclists, runners and families on scooters — a reassuring sight, and a reminder of how loved this stretch of coastline truly is.
Places like this are the lifeblood of South Devon — and right now they need our support more than ever.
If you’re staying with us, we’d really recommend the drive out to Slapton — walk a stretch of the line, take it all in, and show some love to the people and businesses affected.
