One of our lovely recent guests took these amazing images with a drone and sent them to me. As it’s a great way to get an understanding of the cabins location up in the Clwydians I thought I’d share them with you all. There is a 360 video too, but Facebook is telling me I can’t add the video and photos in the same post, so I’ll put that up next.

Well what a strange year this is!
So pleased now to be able to start taking guests again. My first post Covid guests are on their second visit and so far the weather is kinder to them than it was last year. Let’s hope it stays that way. It was such a shame to see the caravan empty during all the glorious weather we had during lockdown.

Well the summer is now truly behind us. The leaves are coming down and it has turned a lot colder. Weather wise it was not such a good summer as last year, but it did not stop the visitors. This year saw a lot of return guests, one family coming for the sixth time ! However, I did notice a lack of foreign guests. Almost all this year have been from the U.K.
Friends with holiday let’s have said the same thing.
Now is the time for some tidying up outside. Leaves to clear and hedges to be cut. I am hoping for a few dry days.

This is the beautiful Llangwyfan Forest.

This is the beautiful Llangwyfan Forest.

Pine Forest - Gabriela Mistral

Let us go now into the forest.
Trees will pass by your face,
and I will stop and offer you to them,
but they cannot bend down.
The night watches over its creatures,
except for the pine trees that never change:
the old wounded springs that spring
blessed gum, eternal afternoons.
If they could, the trees would lift you
and carry you from valley to valley,
and you would pass from arm to arm,
a child running
from father to father.

A lovely little video showing some of the things to see and do around us.

February is usually a quiet month, allowing me to get everywhere tidied up after the winter. The leaves just seem to keep appearing. I sweep them all up, we get a wind and another lot appear. However, I have a guest who has been in the caravan since the end of January so I have not been able do anything. He came and had a coffee with me today and said how much he was loving it. He is enjoying the wildlife and has been watching a buzzard which he says sits on the same post every morning. He is also enjoying the night skies. Without light pollution, if the skies are clear it can be quite breathtaking.
It has been a glorious day and the temperature reached 16 degrees. The birds have all been singing their hearts out and you could easily believe that spring is on its way. Let’s hope it is !

The weather has been beautiful here for the last few days and currently no guests in the caravan so an ideal opportunity to get outside and treat the decking and gate with wood preservative.
I have been out this morning exploring a recently reopened bridleway. I had seen it on the os map when I first moved here nearly 40 years ago but hedges and fences made it impossible to get through. The council have done a lot of work and it is a most beautiful walk with stunning views. The autumn leaves are disappearing rapidly now but the beech trees are still looking good and of course, the oaks are still retaining their leaves.

It has been a while since I last wrote a post, but like last year it has been a busy season with visitors coming from all over the world. This morning I said goodbye to a lovely French family from Paris and last week I had guests from Australia.
Weather wise it could not have been better although recently we have had a couple of storms so sadly I felt it necessary to take the top out of a large holly tree which stood on a bank behind the caravan.
On a happier note, the partridge that I mentioned last year did stay, and are quite happy to hang around whilst I throw seed to them.
The North Wales tourism sector is continuing to go from strength to strength and many of this years guests ‘ visits have been based on some of the wonderful North Wales activities available nearby such as climbing Snowdon, the zip wires in Bethesda and Betws y Coed, cycling some of our fabulous cycle tracks, and walking Offas D**e. The many castles here are also a great attraction as are the blue flagged beaches along our glorious coastlines.
As you know I have a visitors book in the caravan and I’ve received really lovely feedback from this years guests. It was also nice to welcome back some of last years guests.
The nights are drawing in, and the temperature has certainly dropped but the colours of the landscape and the leaves underfoot whilst out walking makes a stay at the caravan still worthwhile, especially for those seeking some relaxation and ‘getting away from it all’ in the run up to Christmas! I do have some availability so do get in touch.

August had been booked out, but we have space in September for anyone who fancies getting away from it all. Great walks, cycling, nature, countryside pubs...

November has been quiet, to be expected, I guess. It does offer the opportunity to tidy up all the fallen leaves and cut back the old seed heads of all the foxgloves. The grass needs cutting too, but it is very wet. Last time I tried to cut it the ride on mower got stuck.
I have also added two extra gas cylinders as two just did not last long enough.
It has been a wet year here resulting in a fantastic display of fungi. I have never seen so many in the forest before or such an amazing selection.
