The Cottage:
This recently renovated this Grade 2 Listed cottage has a wealth of charm and is ideal for both travellers and long stay guests, with a south facing front gardening and beautiful view across the green. Enclosed rear courtyard (good to keep fur babies safe) with small patio and seating. Directly behind this across the car park is the dedicated parking space. (with clearly labeled sign)
Upstairs there are 2 warm and inviting bedrooms,1 luxurious Master Suit with double bed piled high with pillows, smart TV and a cozy single second bedroom. Brand new toilet and shower room with bold blue tiles and full length mirror. Downstairs there's a charming and cozy living room with comfortable couch and plush armchair for you to curl up after a long day of exploring. Wood flooring softened with traditional style rug, a flat screen smart TV/wifi, a small fold down dining table, (spare chairs in the cupboard) and a well equipped kitchen. Iron and Ironing board stored in the upstairs closet. Self Check in box available or meet and greet (Covid Safely)

*Well behaved furry friends (not too large as its a a small cottage) are very welcome and you may find a treat or two waiting for them (its their holiday too!)
I ask that they do not go upstairs or on the beds and you wipe any muddy paws, many thanks.
*The property is a mid terrace cottage so will have the normal sounds of neighbours and we ask that you are courteous also of them.
*The stairs in this property are slim and fairly steep.

The Neighbourhood
Situated in the centre of the historic market town of Devizes with a wealth of Medieval history, a large market place in the town centre, masses of architectural heritage and more than 500 listed buildings, (our cottage being one of them) it is located between 2 beautifully maintained village greens, one with a small childrens playground and an enchanting Swan pond called The Crammer. Legend says the people of Wiltshire got their ‘Moonraker’ nickname from this small pond. In the 1700s high taxes on goods such as alcohol caused smuggling activities to increase. One night some locals were retrieving hogsheads of brandy from the Crammer with large hay rakes when they were spotted by the local exciseman. In an attempt to hide their loot, the men pointed to the reflection of the moon on the pond and said they were trying to rake the giant cheese they’d found. Lets just say they were assumed drunk and left to enjoy the profits of their tales! The property is also just a few mins walk from many attractions such as:
The 29 locks of the Caen Hill Flight on the Kennet and Avon canal. Wadworth Brewery, take a tour and sample their famous 6X and meet the Shire horses that still deliver to the pubs. Wiltshire Museum and its award winning galleries that feature the story of Stonehenge and Avebury. The town hosts an Art Festival, a Food festival, an International Festival and many community events like the famous confetti battle. There are many many excellent restaurants, cafes and shops just mins from the door and Marks and spencer’s Food Hall, Morrisons and Sainsburys. We are very lucky to have a renowned Butchers with an excellent deli just near by called Walter Rose & Sons, check out their scrumptious fresh soup and role to take away, pies, scotch eggs and quiche. Cheese and fish counter. Also on the door step, close enough to entice you with the smell is a brilliant chippy Lemon Plaice. Devizes is a beautiful and fascinating place to explore with its wealth of heritage and antique shops but its also an excellent base to explore the whole area as its only a few miles from iconic sites such as Stonehenge, Avebury, tranquil walking and cycling in the Vale of Pewsey, Laycock (famous for filming many things including Harry Potter) The Roman city of Bath, Marlborogh and Castle Combe to name a few.
