Sand & Stone Escapes is a curated collection of design-led home stays ideal for romantic retreats, friend-filled holidays or family breaks. hotels, we decided to shake things up. Located in the prettiest parts of Cornwall, Devon, the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire and Isle of Skye, every property is surrounded by rolling hills or roaring waves, and each interior has been specifically designed to reflect its magnificent surrounding countryside. So much more than holiday homes, our properties exist because taking a break is rare - as is finding somewhere unique, stylish and memorable to stay. Sometimes the best escapes are the ones you book at the last minute.

The ones where you throw a bag in the car, bring the dog, and disappear somewhere small, unique and completely different from your everyday.

Tucked away in the Cotswold village of Langford, The Old Chapel is exactly that. A former chapel transformed into a characterful retreat, with beautifully carved Indian doors, a floating mezzanine bedroom and interiors that feel a world away from the ordinary.

Drawn by its grand architecture, layered history, and ever-evolving food scene, people return time and again, finding something new with each visit.

Which is exactly why it became home to our very first city escape way back when: West End Muse.

Tucked away among the city’s historic streets, this hideaway occupies a converted 19th-century stable block. The owners worked closely with architects and interior designers to restore the building with great sensitivity, creating a space that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to its past.

This escape’s name comes from the owner’s own artwork, which hangs throughout the apartment, while carefully sourced furniture and thoughtful design details sit comfortably alongside the building’s original features.

Finding a family staycation that keeps everyone happy isn’t always easy... but Wood Farm House comes pretty close ✨

For mini escapees, there’s a beautiful park right next door, a bedroom they’ll actually be excited to sleep in, and a secret cinema room made for family film nights and rainy afternoons.

For the grown-ups, there are beautifully designed interiors by Millie Turner, a garden made for long lunches, and one of our favourite locals, The Norman Knight, just a short stroll away – where you can sit in the pub garden with a drink in hand while the children play in the park opposite.

The magic of Wood Farm House, however, is that it never feels like a house designed exclusively for adults or families. Instead, it’s playful, stylish, and wonderfully easy to settle into.

Proof that family-friendly and beautifully designed can go hand in hand.
