‘Branwen’

A bright and spacious bedroom, with an original antique fireplace framed by a beautiful Delft tile surround and a cosy window seat overlooking the historic formal gardens and surrounding woodland.

The generous bathroom features a roll-top bath and separate monsoon shower, creating a wonderfully relaxing space to retreat to after a day exploring Eryri.

The room takes its name from Branwen, the Welsh princess at the heart of one of the central tales of the medieval Welsh stories of the Mabinogi. Her name translates as ‘blessed fair raven’, and her tragic story is one of love, loyalty and conflict.

A very special guest chef evening is coming to Penmaenuchaf this November.

We’re delighted to welcome two Michelin-starred chef Tom Phillips, Executive Chef at two Michelin-starred Restaurant Story in London, to our mountain retreat for an exclusive evening of exceptional food.

Born and raised in Newport, Tom has built a career around inventive cooking, exceptional British produce and thoughtful storytelling through food. You may also recognise him from BBC1’s Great British Menu, where he represented Wales in both 2020 and 2022.

For one evening only, Tom will bring the flavours and creativity of Restaurant Story to Penmaenuchaf, creating a six-course menu inspired by the restaurant’s distinctive style of cooking.

A rare opportunity to experience the food of one of London’s most celebrated restaurants here in Eryri.

Tickets are £155 per person, with limited spaces available.

Long, sunlit days are made for lingering.

Find a quiet corner in our gardens, settle beneath the shade of a parasol and take your time over a morning coffee, a good book or simply the views across Eryri.

With the mountains beyond and the gardens in full bloom, there’s nowhere quite like Penmaenuchaf for enjoying the slower side of summer.

On Wednesday evening, a deep partial solar eclipse will move across the sky, bringing an unusual shift in light to the landscape surrounding Penmaenuchaf.

Our position in Wales puts us among the best places in the UK to watch the eclipse, with approximately 93% of the Sun expected to be covered when viewed from Eryri.

There’s something magical about watching the sky change over Eryri, so this promises to be a particularly special evening.

If you’d like to make an evening of it, we still have availability in our Afon Restaurant for dinner after the eclipse.
