If you're staying near Dolgellau, don't miss this sunset viewpoint.

It's definitely one of our favourite places to end the day.

There's a lay-by on the A493 between Llwyngwril and Friog, high above the sea, with panoramic views across Cardigan Bay.

On a clear evening you can see all the way to the Llŷn Peninsula as the sun sinks into the sea.
If you're lucky, you might even spot dolphins below.

💡Top tip: the best views appear as you drive north along this stretch of road.

Today I just want to post a pretty picture of a young fern we saw on our walk, the other day.

Some Sundays are hard to beat.

Our guests, Lee and Owen wanted an early breakfast so they could catch the 9am bus to climb Cader Idris from the Minffordd side, together.

Early start meant after a quick tidy up, we could get our own boots on go for a walk.

A lesser known circular walk from Rhydymain towards Rhobell Fawr.
This time we did not climb to the summit but very much enjoyed the lower level through peaceful ancient woods, the fields full of sheep and lambs. No people, no noise apart from lots of bird song.

The clouds kept Cader Idris, the Arans and the summit of Rhobell Fawr hidden from view. We'll just have to come back on a clearer day 😀

And the icing on the cake: a well deserved delicious Sunday roast at Yr Eagles in Llanuwchllyn .

Plas Isa Dolgellau won’t be for everyone…
and that’s exactly the point.

If you’re looking for spa robes, room service and luxury hotel extras — you probably won’t love it here.

But if your perfect trip involves:
• mountain days
• muddy boots
• bike rides
• good pubs
• big walks
• great showers
• comfy beds
• drying room and bike storage
• plus somewhere relaxed to come back to…

you’ll probably feel right at home.

Plas Isa is for people who care more about adventure, location and atmosphere than polished luxury.

And honestly? We’re happy staying in that lane.
