Hi! We’re Andy and Caroline and we’re the founders of Larch Cabin in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We would love to welcome you to this little corner of the Scottish countryside for a stay in our cabin. Here are a few things we love about living here:

🧡 community - there is a thriving friendly community in this area and everyone is always happy to stop for a chat and to help out when needed. Including occasionally herding livestock or rescuing a car stuck in mud!

🌳 sense of adventure and possibility on our doorstep - from the front door there are incredible trails for mountain biking / gravel biking, hill running, hiking and wild swimming. The Ochils provide excellent walks for many miles.

🐦‍⬛ abundance of nature - there is an incredible variety of wildlife in the Arndean Valley, including Birds of Prey, Red Squirrels (Pistachio is a regular feature) and Roe Deer. The cabin also sits at the edge of an SSSI (Sight of Special Scientific Interest).

Our cabin is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes and we feel so lucky to have it on our doorstep! The cabin also sits at the edge of an SSSI (Sight of Special Scientific Interest) owing to the ancient Ash woodland.

There is an incredible variety of wildlife in the Arndean Valley, including Birds of Prey (we hear Tawny Owls every evening and have often sighted them as well as Buzzards Eagles and Kites, other birds include the song thrush, woodpecker, bullfinch, lapwing, fire crest, and heron. You can also spot Red Squirrels (Pistachio is a regular feature); Pine Martens; Roe Deer. And even some Beavers and Otters have been sighted on the river 🦦

We love that you can explore lots of beautiful spots by foot from our cabin! One of our recommendations is to walk to nearby village Dollar where there are numerous places to grab a coffee and a pastry, including this lovely independent book shop called The Wee Bookshop - you can also treat yourself too as they stock lots of beautiful gifts too.

From Dollar Village, the walk up Dollar Glen is particularly magical with many waterfalls and teasing, partial views of Castle Campbell through the trees before it finally comes into full sight. From the castle itself you can carry on either West up to the Summit of King’s Seat, East taking a long route to Muckhart via Seamab Hill, or retrace your steps for the return walk to the cabin via Dollar 🏰
