Welcome to 2022
We have all had a strange 2 years so all we can do is hope that 2022 is going to be somewhat more usual rather than unusual.
Nutgrove obviously took on the challenge and welcomed many guests last summer, all be it, with a few changes and a few ideas which worked. And for this year we shall be continuing them, for example the use of the Party Room for guests to enjoy a picnic of carry out food with their own wine etc. or just another place to relax with a log fire .
We are so fortunate to have a lovely spacious house and lots of grounds to roam in and as we never have more than 6 people at a time everyone we hope feels safe and comfortable.
The Wildflower Garden, created in 2020, has been a great success with everyone enjoying seeing the colour, the bees and the butterflies.
The Shepherds Hut continues to be in demand and just seems to be getting more popular every year.
so the marmalade is made, the cakes will be baked and of course the flapjacks will be in the rooms.
We look forward to welcoming you to Nutgrove this year.
Lets enjoy 2022.
Best wishes
Richard and Caroline.

Hi Everyone, we haven’t posted in a while but we have been very busy since post COVID reopening meeting lots of interesting guests who as usual have enjoyed walking around Nutgrove gardens.
we were away in September welcoming a new grandchild into the world and as usual we managed to visit a garden and while there we discovered a mulch called Strulch. When we arrived back at Nutgrove we investigated further and now we are stockists of Strulch 13.5kg/150litre bags.
Not only will we be using Strulch in our gardens but we will be able to supply others with this great product.
We are enclosing some photos which will explain what Strulch is and if you wish to try some please phone us 028 4481 1566 or email [email protected]

Well storm Ellen was quite a girl 😀.Yesterday was spent filling the kindling bags in the log shed,a job I must say I don’t appreciate doing usually until September at least! Our Shepherd Hutters have be great and seem to have loved the wild flowers and even after the storm they are still putting on a good show .The grass is sopping (squelsh squelch this morning ) but I think we need to enjoy today as surprise surprise we have another weather system arriving Tuesday 🙄.Enjoy !

Well it’s all go at Nutgrove 🤣
Picking strawberries as quick as they ripen and it’s a great crop even after dry weather, frosts, wind etc.. The tomatoes are coming on a treat and taste fab as do the potatoes which are a bit small but plenty more on the way.
I hope we can enjoy a few days of good weather as the past few weeks have been pretty shocking.
Have fun.

Well hello again !
It’s been a while but at last we have all been given some freedom to get back to normal.Visiting family and friends beginning to enjoy hobbies again and where possible even get a day away and enjoy a lunch in a restaurant ,who ever would have imagined such simple pleasures would mean so much .
At last we can again welcome guests back to the Shepherds Hut and we have added a little gazebo to give a little more covered space to enjoy that much needed glass of wine or mug of coffee. We are thrilled that all our hard work to create my Garden of Hugs (wild flower garden )has be a success with much thanks to Tiffany who after work every day in those dry sunny days went up and watered which was no mean feat especially with daisy the puppy having a blast ,and also to David (boardroom .com )for all his labours and especially organising our lovely seats which he had cut from one of the many fallen trees during the winter, really lovely job ..
Everyday things are changing and opening all for the better I hope .
Still please take care ,lots of hand washing and just be sensible .

Well, sitting in the sunshine enjoying breakfast outside, really what could be better!
To answer that is simple, it would be bliss to have our family all here enjoying this lovely weather together but at least 2 of the girls got together yesterday (with all the appropriate social distancing of course) and had a good catch up and welcomed our lovely new granddaughter (which we can’t wait to meet) into the fold.
Hopefully life is becoming easier for you all. The joy of browsing around a shop or a garden centre seems along way off with all the necessary queues and one way systems in place, but still we keep smiling 😀
After the strong winds of last weekend this week has been glorious and the warmth has just worked its magic and moved everything forward and thus far the roses are looking and smelling wonderful so we will enjoy those for the too short a time they are about although this year with more time to dead head etc hopefully they will last longer.
The dogs are hot and I’m afraid the river is pretty low so nowhere for them to cool off.
So off out again to plant out another batch of lettuce and maybe today just relax and enjoy this glorious weather 😄🌞

Hello again everyone .
Here we are again a few more weeks of lockdown behind us and thankfully a few more things opening for us all from garden centres to golf clubs and I believe angling plus the joy of being able apparently legally to meet a few friends at a distance and have a chat .
I do believe it’s going to take some longer than others to settle into the new norm especially the over 70s who have not enjoyed the pleasure of queuing at the supermarket for an hour before you get in 🙂.Who would have thought .🙄We are so lucky in the country as we have great local suppliers who have been looking after us all very well and a big shop at the supermarket dare I say is nearly a thing of the past🙂.
At Nutgrove we have enjoyed a few lovely days and then got truly thumped by a horrid frost last Thursday morning ,it was a shocker ! Some plants have not survived some are in sick bay and some thankfully are recovering slowly it would be good to have a little bit of consistency .We have learned the art of FaceTiming and reading a story to our grandson and at least with FaceTime we can watch our little granddaughter grow nearly on a daily basis, there is a little change nearly everyday .Our new puppy is also growing and maturing fast and we have work to do to socialise her as we have now realised that really the only people she knows is the 3 of us so that’s something new to challenge us .
The gardening goes on and it is great to have the time to do the jobs that are normally on the list but don’t get done . I hope you are all enjoying Chelsea they are doing a great job and it does give a little normality at this time of year .
Once again take care, keep smiling and hopefully our days will get fuller and more varied again soon .
Caroline .

Well good afternoon all 😃
The sun is back and it’s somewhat warmer than a few days ago when we had early morning frosts which looked very pretty but did not do the young tender plants much good. Every cloud has a silver lining though as Tiffany and Richard set to work yesterday and made me a fab cold frame which will prove very useful in the next few weeks. The apple blossom is in full swing and the bluebells in the woodland of the mill race are coming on a treat, it’s also great getting photos from everyone else’s gardens especially the lovely pots of tulips and our gardens are getting so much attention but gosh aren’t we so lucky to have them to enjoy ☺️.
There have been great videos made via the NGS of fab gardens usually opening their gates at this time of year but this way we can view them and just make a donation after viewing a perfect way to enjoy a mug of tea and slice of cake 🍰☕️.
So as we move forward into another month of lockdown hopefully will will soon see a few steps to a new normality .In a little book I read occasionally which has the sweetest illustrations it says “We are all a little bit scared but we are less scared together .
Take care
Caroline and Richard 😊
