If, 'red sky at night really is shepherds' delight', the shepherds must have been ecstatic last night. Whilst many images may have been posted of last night's mesmerising orange/red sky, I don't think that any images would have been as dramatic as the images below at Polmaily House with the technicolour sky silhouetting the towering Scot's pines along the property's boundary.
A wonderful natural phenomena. Hopefully the Northern Lights will be just as amazing come the winter months??

Whilst last week's scorching blue sky days may be temporarily replaced by cloudier conditions, we, at Polmaily House are always taken aback and are impressed by the natural beauty of living in the Highlands of Scotland - whatever the weather has in store for us.
As you can see from the images below, our rhododendron tree is looking fabulous and has once again become a real showstopper, albeit for just a few weeks.
Unfortunately, we do not have a great deal of time to admire its splendour as the grass is literally growing under our feet!
Whilst there is no availability to stay at Polmaily House until late September, you will then be able to enjoy the wonderful autumnal colours of our 6 acre site.
Enjoy the summer - hopefully, it will return to the Highlands soon!

Thanks to Ciorstaidh and Rob from a Day's Clean, Balnain, we have just returned from a very sad family bereavement in South Wales, to find that our swimming pool has been kept in immaculate condition by them and, because of this, we are more than happy to open the pool to the local community for sessions today and tomorrow. Remember - you can book online via Polmaily House's website.
Again - a big THANK YOU. Be quick to book. Sessions on a Sunday are a rarity.

It is always such a pleasant sight when the first spring flowers show themselves as another long, dark winter is thankfully drawing to a close. The snowdrops at Polmaily House are already out in their thousands and really are a sight to behold.
To celebrate the imminent arrival of Spring, we have decided to open Polmaily House for groups of people who would just like to book a two night stay, rather than the usual minimum of three nights. This offer, which could bring the price down to as little as £62.50 per person per night, (based on a maximum of 30 guests) is available until the end of March, 2026.
Why not get the family / friends together to enjoy this wonderful house and its unbeatable array of activities which it has to offer.
We look forward to hearing from you and potentially meeting you in the future. If you live close enough, you are welcome to view the house before booking, as long as you make an appointment beforehand.

New year family trip

We stayed here with a large family for new year. It was the most unforgettable trip it was so magical.
The kids ran around having the best time, using the swimming pool games room and cinema room.
The bedrooms were stunning and very clean.
We even got the pleasure of having the large Christmas trees in every room which created a festive feel. Also got alot of snow which also made it more special as the kids got to go outside and play in it.
We would recommend this place to anyone and we are already planning our next stay in the near future.

Calling all tennis players!
Maybe not the ideal time of year - but for those who are particularly keen - we have just finished erecting the new fencing around each end of our newly resurfaced tennis court and we would like to invite any local tennis players to come and use the court free of charge.
The fencing is a most welcome addition and makes it far easier to contain the tennis balls and stops the trip into the rose garden to retrieve the ball!
If you would like to use the court (we can also provide all equipment free of charge too), just message us on 07912533341 or [email protected] or [email protected] to make a reservation.
Please do not just turn up as this offer is not available whilst we have guests staying in the main house and you need to have a confirmed reservation slot.
Hopefully the new fence will be able to withstand any powerful aces!! See you on court.

Calling all fishermen / fisherwomen. We would like to offer our pond here at Polmaily House to our local fishermen who would like to come and fly fish here. There would be no charge for this but obviously, we do ask you to return the fish back to the pond.
Ideally, we would like to set up a Polmaily House Fishing Club where 'members' would take ownership of the pond and fish it as regularly as they wanted. Would be great for all levels of ability, especially beginners, visitors and young people alike.
All we ask is that the pond will not be used whilst we have guests staying at the house but can be used freely at any other time. The dates when the pond will be unavailable will be known and published well in advance.
Anyone interested? No catch! - Probably not the best phrase to use when encouraging people to fish!
Let us know if you fancy taking the bait!!
