We are delighted to share that the Balmoral Castle grounds, Gift Shop, and restaurant are now open to visitors. From now until 22nd March, we will be open on selected days between 10:00 and 16:00.

During this time, general admission to the grounds is free of charge, making it an ideal opportunity to enjoy a peaceful walk, explore the Gift Shop, or relax and warm up with a visit to the restaurant.

A great new option when visiting

The Macallan invites guests to an unforgettable experience on Friday and Saturday evenings to celebrate the spirit of new beginnings. Their A Night on Earth Experience takes you on a two-hour journey through storytelling, whisky, and tradition, marking the close of one year and the promise of the next.

Guests will enjoy a rare glimpse behind the scenes, learn about The Macallan’s famous wood story, and savour a sample of their latest release, A Night on Earth: The First Light, a sunrise of flavours crafted to honour the year ahead.

This limited edition experience runs on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm until the end of February, and is a wonderful way to round off your Speyside stay with warmth, reflection, and exceptional whisky.

Please note that The Macallan distillery will close for visits on 17th December, reopening for private experiences on 19th January, and public tours from 23rd January 2026.

A great journey and experience when in town

It’s that time of the year, Spring has sprung and that means that the historic Keith & Dufftown Railway is back on track from 5th April – and it’s one of Speyside’s best-kept secrets.

Run entirely by passionate volunteers, this charming old railway offers Friday–Sunday journeys through breathtaking countryside, from Dufftown to Keith, with stops including the picturesque Drummuir, where you can hop off and enjoy a scenic walk and visit the loch.

If you’re visiting during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, don’t miss the Dram Dram Train – drams, stories, and stunning views are all included. Be sure to ask one of the volunteers why the angels were extra thirsty along this route…

The line runs until September, with special trips at Halloween and Christmas too.

You can walk to the station from The Tannochbrae, and stop in at Glenfiddich or Balvenie Distillery on the way back.

We’re hiring. Are you able to offer reliable housekeeping support to our premium properties that are located in the heart of Dufftown, including The Tannochbrae, and Speyside Cottages, as and when needed.

• Typical hours would be from 10am – 1pm
• Weekdays are the priority, with optional weekend availability
• Typically 6 - 20 hours per week, with the potential for more as the season and properties get busier
• Flexibility to mutually agree times and hours

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail, and enjoys creating a welcoming space for guests. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
