🐴 We had some unusual guests at West Hollowcombe Farm recently.

Sophie stayed in Norton Cottage for a night with Bud, her Clydesdale–Thoroughbred mare, while Toby followed along on his bike.

They’re on an incredible journey from Studland in Dorset to Tintagel in Cornwall, mapping a long-distance riding route through the West Country.

Bud enjoyed a patch of Exmoor grass, Sophie and Toby enjoyed a comfortable bed, and we were delighted to play a tiny part in their adventure.

Safe travels to all three of them.

Over those dark winter months, we got busy with the paintbrush and gave Jasper Cottage a small makeover. A handmade new dining table (a real labour of love in the end), upgraded lighting and a general freshen up.

With its exposed beams, log burner and stunning views of the moor, it has always been@one of our favourite cottages.

A few months ago we decided to convert a cobweb and clutter filled utility room.

Now I think it’s my favourite room on the farm. Behold our dining hall, a space to gather, be merry and celebrate!

One of the things guests love most about staying here is being able to walk straight from the farm into nature.

This small circular route starts at West Hollowcombe Farm and crosses our private land, following the Dane’s Brook through ancient woodland before climbing the ridge and returning home through our village.

It’s not a long walk, but it’s a special one.
