International Dark Skies Reserve make Exmoor a stuning place to lose yourself staring at the infinity of space!
Three Combes Foot | The Milky Way over Exmoor's dark skies
On a clear, moonless night the heart of our galaxy rises over the open moor at Three Combes Foot, the glowing core of the Milky Way spilling across a sky untouched by light pollution. A lone bush stands silhouetted beneath thousands of stars.
Exmoor was Europe's very first International Dark Sky Reserve, and nights like this are exactly why. Away from any town lights, the moor falls into a darkness so complete that the galaxy itself becomes the main event — meteors, satellites and the soft band of the Milky Way all visible to the naked eye. Wrap up warm, let your eyes adjust for twenty minutes, and the whole universe opens up above you.
Have you ever seen the Milky Way with your own eyes? We'd love to know where you were.
