Didn’t manage a photo this time (to busy yakking) but last week we had the pleasure of greeting our latest guests…. Sarah and Mark who stopped the night on their way to IOM classic TT…. Because of Mark in particular I was reintroduced to the pleasures of a chicken kebab 😂 They are now back home now, but we look forward to staying in touch, and are even discussing joining them at the classic next year or 2024…😀

SEPTEMBER OPENING

I can’t believe it’s September .. we are still loving the cafe and and thank you all for supporting us so far ..

WE ARE OPEN 6 days a week for September 10-4.

All our Paddlesports are available at £10 per person per hour please see ‘kayak and sup hire and sales’ page

I can now confirm OCTOBER opening

Our plan is to open just weekends 10-3 in October
And finally …
Good news and a MASSIVE MASSIVE relief
All week I have been putting off phoning our electricity suppliers 😂. I was sure we owed them £100’s .. Marion and I started Turning off fridges and freezers we didn’t need, turning off hot plates and extractor (generally just being a bit careful) and obviously not sleeping as worried of a big bill looming BUT turns out all is Good. We are slightly in credit .. phew. I’ve checked our contract too so we have a 3 year deal that started in April with standing daily charge of 84p (I thought it was much more than that) this has given us confidence that The Glen Cafe should be ok for foreseeable future. ❤️

We were happy to have stay with us for past 3 nights our most recent guests, all the way from Germany... starting their 2 week Scottish tour. They had a good ride through Northumberland and Borders on Wednesday, a day of rest Thursday which included a walk to Drumuir ice cream farm... yesterday after the weather improved they took a ride through the Galloway forest to Newton Stewart... would like to wish them all the best for the rest of their trip.. 😃

Busy day going on here, having our full fibre installed….our BB wasn’t to bad before but this new fibre will more than double that speed and at just £5 more a month we won’t complain 😀 Also, on going front of the house makeover continues with a front patio step, looking forward to seeing this completed.. 😃

If anyone has ever considered doing an i2i course then quit considering it and just do it... No matter if you've ridden for 20 years or 2 years there is always something to learn.. Well reccomended.. 😊

Welcome to A&D’s BnB

Hello, our names are Alexa & David and we ourselves are bikers...each having our own bikes. We have decided to this year open one of our bedrooms so that fellow bikers may enjoy the fantastic biking roads that the South West of Scotland has to offer. Whether it’s to stop off on your way up Scotland, down England or better still stopping for a few days to explore our roads including The Beef-tub and St Mary’s Loch both near Moffat, The Dalveen Pass and best of all the SW300, we ourselves are situated just outside of Dumfries, 1 mile off the A75....(don’t worry if all you have is a car..we don’t discriminate )!
