Forgot to share this with you! In the spring we got a mention in BBC Countryfile magazine which was great. We had no idea until a guest mentioned it at breakfast. We see plenty of cyclists and nature lovers.

Kippford beach is probably my favourite in D&G. I love the shells.. and the view. Its gorgeous. 🏖️

We are very proud here in Annan to have one of the last remaining family ran, privately owned independent local cinemas in Scotland. It opened its doors in 1917 and has quite some history. It's owners have been dedicated to restoring it to its former 1930s glory and their hard work is paying off, it's looking rather lovely 🖤

...and the scaffolding is no more 🤩

Poster boards, signage & lightining to be completed next week. Slowly, we are getting there 😊

Our river is really quite gorgeous for a walk. 💙💚

Today, is a big day in Annan! More than one hundred horsemen and horsewomen Ride the Marches to ensure that the landmarks, cairns and other features have not been removed or tampered with.

The Marches or boundaries of Annan have been ridden since the town was created a Royal Burgh more than 600 years ago.

It's now recognised as being one of the best displays of pipes and drums in Scotland with the closing ceremony attracting over 5,000 people. Enjoy and let the rain stay away!

We've welcomed a number of guests from Canada who are here to trace their family tree. Annan Harbour was where many of their ancestors set sail from to start their new life. One of our Canadian guests who'd done heaps of research mentioned Canadian pitch pine was brought over on the ships as ballast on the return journey and it's believed was used to make stair bannisters for the houses being built at the time. I hope its true 😍

It's almost our anniversary for moving here! We kind of fell for this house due to its history and lovely features when we discovered it 16 years ago. It's strange to think our 19 year old was a tiny three year old boy. The Old Rectory was built in 1886 and we hear it was originally owned by a Judge and of course it was owned by the church next door, St Johns Escipalian (which is why it's an English Rectory rather than a Scottish Manse) The church sold it in the 1970s(?) and it became a B&B, seeing 3 owners before us.
